"The Book of Mormon," the tuner from "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has nailed down its Broadway dates, opening at the Eugene O'Neill Theater in March.
Plot of the high-profile, long-gestating comedy -- with book, music and lyrics by Parker, Stone and "Avenue Q" composer-lyricist Robert Lopez -- follows a couple of modern-day Mormons in Africa in a storyline intercut with scenes from the life of Joseph Smith.
Parker co-helms with Casey Nicholaw ("Elf"), who also choreographs.
Timing skeds the opening of "Mormon" just prior to the April bow of the 15th season of Parker and Stone's animated skein on Comedy Central.
Hmmm...sounds to me like they couldn't have picked a more to-the-point context for the story line than Africa. All they have to do is to quote the numerous racist statements Brigham Young & other Lds leaders made about black skin being a so-called "curse" -- and Romney the candidate will be (further) tarnished.
(Ya gotta know that Romney through age 30 was part of a church that was still denying blacks access to their temples; and denied them priesthood status).
This will be part of the MSM campaign that would love to make a would-be Obama vs. Romney match-up purely about race, to get the focus off of the economy & other issues.
Taking on Muslims again?
Nope. Running scared.
I’m wondering about the increase in Mormon terrorist violence that this will cause.
Let’s just hope nobody PO’s the Presbyterians!
I think “skeds” might be “schedules”. I’m not sure what a “tuner” is in this context.

Seems like a soft target.
Of course, compared with Islam, everything is a soft target.
“tuner” = musical show
Oh wait they're not burning a koran.
“Nope. Running scared.”
Comedy Central censored South Park.
Parker & Stone aren’t running anywhere.
They happily poke fun at Mohammed.

You’re obviously ignorant about such things.
Thanks! All I could think of was stereo equipment.

I see that you’ve posted this under the protection of the “Religion Forum”.
Will you ever grow up and get another cause other than bashing Mormons at every turn? I doubt it.
"He'll thrill you, then he'll kill you"
"Aisha, the story even Nabakov wouldn't touch"
"Meanwhile, back at the oasis, the Arabs were eating their dates"
I disagree soundly with many points of Mormon doctrine. Nevertheless, I look on this with the same distaste I would if they were making fun of Christianity or Judaism.
So when does the Broadway production of "Muhammed" from the writers of South Park debute?
Putting Mormonism equal to Christianity and Judaism is quite a stand to take.
I'm not as sensitive about things like Mormonism, and Scientology.
Not sure what you mean by "equal." As I already stated, I disagree with them heartily when it comes to doctrine. I do that with Judaism as well since they deny the Savior. (Assuming you are a Christian, I would imagine you disagree with them as well.) I just find it distasteful to make fun of someone's religion in this way.
I to this day don't get why people bash Mormons. I know that I will never agree with Mormons on matters of religion but this is America and we don't have to agree on such things. I also don't see them hijacking planes and crashing them into buildings, beheading people, taking hostages, engaging in piracy or holding guns to peoples' heads to force them to convert.
So what's the problem?
I’m not as sensitive about things like Mormonism, and Scientology, mocking the Hare-Krishnas doesn’t bother me either.
A cult that poses as a Christian church and seduces and tricks Christians into leaving Christianity?
Some Christians think that they have to take a stand on something that serious.
“So what’s the problem?”
I’ve been trying to get to the root of their problem for years. Free Republic is becoming known as a Mormon hater website.
Hopefully JR will see through their agenda and put a stop to it.
