The Scottish Episcopal Church has caused controversy by removing masculine references to God in a new order of service.
The new form of worship, which removes words such as 'Lord, he, his, him' and 'mankind' from services, has been written by the church in an attempt to acknowledge that God is 'beyond human gender'.
Episcopalian bishops have approved the introduction of more 'inclusive' language, which deliberately removes references suggesting that God is of male gender
Traditionalists have criticised the changes on the grounds that they smack of political correctness and because they believe they are not consistent with the teachings of the Bible.
The alterations have been made to provide an alternative to the established 1982 Liturgy, which, like the Bible, refers to God as a man.
The new order of service, which can be used by priests if they have difficulties with a male God, has been produced by the church's Liturgy Committee in consultation with the Faith & Order Board of General Synod and the College of Bishops.

Indeed they do. These are the same kinds of clowns who like to selectively reduce the penalty for some sins over others.
Frivolous people striving for irrelevancy.

I think they met their goal.
Ive always noticed that the promoters of Lesbonics (inclusive language) always use men in lines like evil men pursue me or violent men pluck my beard.

I have not noticed that, but that is a splendid catch!
The Scottish Episcopal Church is no longer a church. I seriously question the faith of the leaders of that.........church???

Will it help if the words “Apostolic” and “True” and “Holy” were worked into the title?
This works for some.
Jesus Christ is a man. Jesus Christ is God. Therefore, God is a man.
God created man in his own image. Woman was created from man.
RE: Jesus Christ is a man. Jesus Christ is God. Therefore, God is a man.
I’ve used this argument with them before. Their counter-argument is that God “happened” to choose to come as male.
He could just as well come as female and it would not have made a huge difference.
After all, both male and female were made in Her image ( their words, not mine ).
And I always ask these people then how come satan is always male?? They stare back at me like deer in head lights!
I find it surreal that they think that Jesus didn’t have the ability to look between his legs.
One of the most hideous neologisms I ever heard was the word “Godself” — used where a sane and normal person would say “Himself.”
For God so loved the world that God gave God’s only-begotten child, so that whosoever believeth in (??? perhaps repeat the phrase since pronouns are forbidden ... ) God’s only begotten child ...
No, HE won’t.
They are also the same clowns who ordain womyn for the Catholic Church.
Nice quote. Do you have the source that is cited from?
G-d has no gender. It does not bother me,though, that He,Him,etc.are used to refer to G-d.
Christianity is above all a religion based on REVELATION. That is, contrary to modern assumptions, it is NOT about “Humankind’s (Man’s) search for God” rather, God’s search (and rescue) of Man. Therefore to accurately talk about, communicate with, and praise God, we must do so in ways He has shown us. In scripture, God ALWAYS (with a couple of metaphoric exceptions) refers to Himself as masculine. NOT a human male, for sure (except of course for God the Son, who, after the resurrection, still is a human male...though exalted) but more potent, more masculine than any man. He certainly is not neuter...
This stupid move by the Scottish Episcopals is just another sign of pseudo-scholars thinking they know better than the bible—which is God’s own self revelation—who go above (or below) and beyond the authority of God’s word.
The silly thing is too, is that the feminization of the Church is the real scandal...Many churches are so wimpy that a real man doesn’t want to step foot into them. Acceptance of female ministers, and homosexual ones too....doesn’t help matters one bit either, to say the least. Almost any church will have more women than men...so why are they imagining scriptural faith alienates women?
Common sense even says, if you were to get a letter from a stranger, who repeatedly called himself a man’s name...and had various stories in the letter about himself where others called him by the masculine pronoun..., and even related stories about himself as a human male (named Jesus) it would be the height of rudeness and insult to reply to the letter:
“Dear He, She or It,
Nice to hear from you...”
Of course liberal theologians never really had much common sense at all, did they?
Some people are just plain stupid and policically correct pronouncements of scripture are laughable until after death..
I once hear a priest take on the question of man/woman. He said woman is a man with a womb. woman for short...both created by God....man had nothing to do with it..

I paraphrased it from one of the best books I have ever read, and that every conservative should read, I think. It's the third book in Lewis's Space Trilogy and it's called That Hideous Strength. The book touches on science, and modern-day fascism, and marriage, and angels, and Arthurian mythology, and God. It's a weird-sounding mix, but the whole trilogy was a fun read.
Here's the passage.
But she had been conceiving this world as "spiritual" in the negative sense -- as some neutral, or democratic, vacuum where differences disappeared, where sex and sense were not transcended but simply taken away. Now the suspicion dawned upon her that there might be differences and contrasts all the way up, richer, sharper, even fiercer, at every rung of the ascent. . . . "Yes," said the Director, "There is no escape. . . . You are offended by the masculine itself: the loud, irruptive, possessive thing -- the gold lion, the bearded bull -- which breaks through hedges and scatters the little kingdom of your primness as the dwarfs scattered the carefully made bed. The male you could have escaped, for it exists only on the biological level. But the masculine no one of us can escape. What is above and beyond all things is so masculine that we are all feminine in relation to it. You had better agree with your adversary quickly"."You mean I shall have to become a Christian?" said Jane.
"It looks like it", said the Director.
In fact, if you consider the model the book of Revelation reveals to us, Jesus is the BRIDEGROOM and the CHURCH is His BRIDE.
You cannot really escape the fact that God reveals Himself to mankind (yes I said MANkind) using MASCULINE pronouns. He revealed Himself to us in the incarnation as a MAN, and He reveals His relationship with believers as a Groom with his Bride.
There really is no escaping it.
