Scientists are building the case that the image of a crucified man on the Shroud of Turin was created by radiation that emanated from the body itself, a theory remarkably supportive of the traditional resurrection account that is central to Christian theology.
A scientific paper co-authored by attorney and historian Mark Antonacci and physicist Arthur Lind argues that the image of the crucified man in Shroud of Turin might constitute what amounts to a photograph taken at the instant Jesus' body transformed as he rose from the dead.
In the paper, "Particle Radiation from the Body," Antonacci's and Lind's argument centers around the 29 unique or unusual features that scientists over the past four decades have found on the Shroud's body image and fiber.
For instance, the authors noted the Shroud's frontal and dorsal body images are "encoded with the same amount of intensity, independent of any pressure or weight from the body," such that the bottom part of the cloth that bore all the weight of the crucified man's supine body is not encoded with a greater amount of intensity than the frontal image.
"Radiation coming from the body would not only explain this feature, but also the left/right and light/dark reversals found on the cloth's frontal and dorsal body images," the authors note.

Don’t forget the soldiers pressed the crown on, Christ carried His cross and fell several times, and His blood dried on His body in places. The cross may have pressed it in further when He fell three times.
My point is: it may not have been easy to remove it from His head by the time they got the body down. They were in a rush to inter Him before sundown. They may have just wrapped him quickly, intending to come back and remove the crown of thorns when they buried Him properly.
Or, Christ could have created the image on the Shroud that He wanted to leave with us: the image of the suffering He endured for us.
Hey I like your style.
(per other posts back at me)
I am not into the whole debate untill you scream 5,000 posts later either.
Just some friendly exchanges (with a side of satire).
Back to the no signs of wounds.
IIRC he did have one large wound visible when he met the two disiples on the road and they did not reconize him, he was in full body mode and showed them one of or the mortal heart spearing.
I will go google that, Bible is nearby but my glasses are not.

Jesus
He was changed in appearance according to scripture.
He had to point out his wounds to show his peeps (doubting Thomas) that it was indeed the resurrected Christ.
Has a DNA ever been done on the Shroud?
The reason that crossed my mind is I wondered what it would be like?
Mary was human and had DNA as the maternal side but what about the I am who I am side, that would manifest in terms of DNA like?
Ok maybe that is to Holy of Holies to even think about. Too deep for me.
Time to go feed the dogs and watch some Bourdain “no reservations” before next KV care shift.
I am not familiar with any DNA testing but the Blood on the Shroud was typed and compared to the Blood on the Sudarium of Oviedo and they both matched, the type being AB+
I think the DNA would be all Mary’s since He took His earthly human form from her.
On a related note: Mary is the New Testament Abraham! She is a completely devout soul who was willing to say yes to anything God asked of her, even the unthinkable. She was willing to sacrifice her son for God and her spiritual children outnumber the stars.
She’s greater than Abraham because she actually did offer up her Son to God out of obedience to Him.
The honor and praise shown Abraham in Scripture is the minimum of honor and praise due to Mary- and it gives us an idea of the place Mary should have in our faith.
In addition, it makes perfect sense to me that God used Abraham and Mary in his redemption plan.
Abraham was what Adam should have been.
And Mary, who sacrificed even more for God, was the new Eve. Eve destroyed our relationship with God and had the greater sin of the two. She had to endure the pangs of childbirth from then on. Mary brought forth our Savior through Eve’s legacy of childbirth and gave Him to God out of complete obedience.
Indeed, one could say the Scripture stories about Mary illustrate she erased Eve’s sin in every way: she never once tempted Christ to sin. Each passage about her shows her complete humility and obedience. in fact, she is often silent in the face of Christ’s/God’s messages to her.
Mary was the greatest human who ever lived: the New Covenant Abraham, a woman, an Ark for God’s Word, the first and most perfect disciple of Christ.
Stick to saying Mary was the Second Eve. At least it has some scriptural parallel in Jesus Christ as the second Adam.
Abrahm was an astrologer and worshipped strange gods prior to his becoming Abraham. The theology just doesn't hold up to scrutiny.
And she did so out of Free Will.
Her whole life she was obediant by choice.
I don’t think some folks get how as a woman and a mother we bond with Mary and look to her as a mentor/hero.
When ever I feel the suffering heart as a Mom of a severly disabled son and the stuff he endures without complaint, I think of Mary at the foot of the Cross.
The pain of a Mom’s soul but the joy of a woman faithful to God and then I don’t feel so burdened in pain.
I have found that my relationship with Mary has strengthened my human feelings and relationship with the Lord.
When I began my quest years ago for personal peace in my soul it led my to Mary and eventually (4yrs it took) to coming home to my Catholic faith.
I have always perservered in building my personal relationship with our Lord and Letting Go, Letting God most of my adult life but I was led by our Mother to put it together in mind/soul and taking the human move of going to Adult CC/Confirmation (I quit/rebelled against my Catholic faith in 7th grade) It is what works for KV and I.
Well somewhere in there Jesus took a trip to Hell with the keys to release all those souls.
Did he stop back by earthly after the Hell stop pit?
Only God knows. : )

I thought the image was formed by dehydration of fibrils on each individual thread.
Sometimes the disputes between the different denominations on Free Republic can be quite intense, but also quite sad to me that such venom can come out of the different sects of Christianity....but since I don't go to any church, its really none of my business. I would not deliberately offend any of the different churches, but have had a post of mine deleted...guess I am not always diplomatic as I should be....Have a great Sunday (its raining where I am at)
May God bless you and your family with every joy imaginable for eternity.
Apparently Abraham was okay in God’s book: See Luke 13: 28, Luke 16: 22-29, Luke 19:9, John 8:39, John 8: 56.
Mary is the second Abraham: she was the new Ark of the New Covenant, she held the Word inside her, was completely blameless, was completely obedient, found great favor with God, went beyond Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to actually accepting God’s will and watching her son actually sacrificed, and faithfully walked with our Savior every step of His journey. Christ started his public ministry of redemption at her request with the miracle at Cana. She was at the foot of the cross with Him. Her spiritual children outnumber the stars.
No other human participated in Christ’s mission as completely as Mary did. I worship God— but I honor Mary as the greatest human who ever lived. She is completely God’s and her last words to us, as told to us by the Holy Spirit, are, “Do whatever He tells you.” What’s not to love about Mary!?! She is a perfect example of how a human being can love God.
Eve’s sin, the first sin, was greater than Adam’s. It is only just that Mary, a woman, was the human who contributed most to God’s plan for our salvation. God made all things new and settled all accounts.
Great View!
