Scientists are building the case that the image of a crucified man on the Shroud of Turin was created by radiation that emanated from the body itself, a theory remarkably supportive of the traditional resurrection account that is central to Christian theology.
A scientific paper co-authored by attorney and historian Mark Antonacci and physicist Arthur Lind argues that the image of the crucified man in Shroud of Turin might constitute what amounts to a photograph taken at the instant Jesus' body transformed as he rose from the dead.
In the paper, "Particle Radiation from the Body," Antonacci's and Lind's argument centers around the 29 unique or unusual features that scientists over the past four decades have found on the Shroud's body image and fiber.
For instance, the authors noted the Shroud's frontal and dorsal body images are "encoded with the same amount of intensity, independent of any pressure or weight from the body," such that the bottom part of the cloth that bore all the weight of the crucified man's supine body is not encoded with a greater amount of intensity than the frontal image.
"Radiation coming from the body would not only explain this feature, but also the left/right and light/dark reversals found on the cloth's frontal and dorsal body images," the authors note.

What is your opinion of post 28 and 40 ? I am open to all criticism.
When it came to Baptists they had to learn to no longer say "allegedly Christian church" ~ then the preacher would lean them over backwards for a full immersion AND hold them under extra long just in case.
What is fascinating about what is seen on the shroud is that it is a pixel image with a resolution 5 times higher than the best commercial laser printer and it contains 3-D information. Also, the image is not formed by any dye, ink paint or burning, as the cloth fiber itself DOES NOT CONTAIN THE IMAGE! The image is formed only on the thin layer of soapwort which was left on the surface when the cloth was washed and dried during its manufacture.
KV was baptized as an infant right away (well not so much as I had to go through the single Moms class, yes we knew we had to drink from the “other” faucet) due to his severe physical disability/health not expected to live more than a few months a year topps. (31 blessed and amazing grace years later, Glory be to God, he does save wretches like me).
But when we went Baptist Pastor Charlie (RIP) didn't want to use the Church dipping pool for fear KV would thrash and hit the mic and electrocute all.
So Pastor/plus wife, KV and Me put on swimsuits and went to our Local Spa store (RIP JIM) owner and did a jacuzzi baptism.
Nah. Doubting Thomas took care of that idea. More likely is that when life filled him again, the image was burned into the cloth.
Is it my perception this morning or does the crown of thorns look like it flipped up and appears to be the crown of a King?
Based on my re baptism, I have serious doubt's about *use to* cause it had to be after 1957, the year I was married and I had private instructions from a great priest at Saint Benedict's church, 6 mile road and John R area for those that know Detroit and Highland Park.
Once a week for several months 2 hours long and made my first confession prior to marriage....
Therefore I think your individual experience is not universal.
By the way, Saint Benedict's was one of the most beautiful church's I have ever been in...Very old and build like a cathedral.
There are a few Catholics on this forum that think they have the last word on catholic practice, but unlike the Pope they are not infallible..

I have the DVD of this springs History Channel documentary. I have been studying the Shroud for over 50 years, have corresponded with one of the STURP scientists (http://www.shroudstory.com/topic-sturp.htm) from the 1978 research team, read everything I could find - but as a portrait artist, I have also studied from that aspect.
this documentary not only covers the radiation path but a team of graphic artists use science to construct a 3D bust of Jesus from the imprint on the Shroud.
the results brought even the lead artist to tears - as it does me.
Golly, Jesus looks like Jesus! ;o) (The Iconic paintings from hundreds of years ago show evidence that the artists - at least of the oldest known - the Pantocrator - took his depiction from the face one the Shroud, which used to be far more distinct before the centuries of fading. There are other Icons that are obviously borrowing either from this first on and some from the Shroud itself - some have 3 wisps of hair on the forehead which the artists saw on the Shroud - which are actually blood, but they mistook for hair. The famous Pantocrator from the 6th century is my favorite.

an ABC clip on the documentary - if you get the DVD, you may ,as I do, disagree with ABC's assertion that the face the graphic artists used to create their ‘face’ doesn't look like what we think of as Jesus. I disagree. It think it's remarkably accurate. It brought tears to the eyes of the graphic artist - and to mine. I believe it may yours also. I strongly recommend getting the DVD

If he radiated/resurrected and the light/heat was so intense that it left the double impression then it must be a heat as intense as the sun or more.
Would that leave ashes at that degree of heat?

Your lucky, I only have 8 original teeth, born with bad ones had first set of false teeth at the age of 18. If I answer the door without them in, I scare little kids..
One thing does puzzle me. Considering the 3-d form the shroud was wrapped around, why isn’t the face markings especially broad from side to side when the cloth is laid flat? IMO it looks like a painting of someone, the result of putting an image on a flat surface while looking at a 3-d one.
Regardless of it’s authenticity, if people will get into the Word because of it, then that’s a good start.
Maybe it’s been in RC hands for centuries, but maybe it’s been sort of a ‘traveling trophy’, latched onto by whoever managed to control the regions through the centuries. Look at the mooslimbs; they have laid claim to and/or occupy parts of Jerusalem considered holy by Jews/Christians. (yeah, kinda wicked comparison though)
You don’t honestly believe that Joseph of Arimathaea, Nicodemas, and whoever else may have helped, left the cruel crown of thorns on when they wrapped the body, even though he was dead?
Wouldn’t you have been so repulsed by what the soldiers had done to your Lord that those thorns would have been tossed aside pronto when retreiving the body?
I doubt they were of the carnal mindset at that moment, saying, “Hey, we better keep the thorns on so he looks like he did while he was on the cross”.
Huge flaw in your statement. He was seen multiple times AFTER His death and resurrection. Matthew 28:1-20, Mark 16:1-8, Luke 24:1-12, John 20:1-10, etc.
Still, the DOC had a closed communion, and baptism by immersion, and you could just transfer in unless it had been by immersion.
I've heard of the RC churches with the immersion pools though. Not sure if we have one around here.
Now, about the Shroud of Turin, it's definitely one of the great mysteries ~ and if not of supernatural origin it's definitely the first photographic negative ~ and several hundred years before the next one!
He hit an area that had a substantial Scandinavian background, and their great grandparents and back a couple more generations had spent a good hundred years as the "cutting edge" on the frontier ~ and were not organized into any sort of church like Europeans and English people.
Best I can tell they still maintained a number of older Sa'ami religious traditions ~ but there they were, and the minister converted a few people and they built a small chapel. Then the converted more and more people and built a larger chapel, and then an even larger one, and in the end had a congregation of several hundred families, all English speakers, and a Dunkard (German Baptist) church.
He was quite progressive and started a Sunday School program for the Summer ~ so on Sunday, after church, all the young people would gather for supplemental lessons and they would cook enormous pots of crawdads.
This was all at Uniontown Indiana.
They had a graveyard there ~ it's also the one where Jewish people in the area were buried ~ since Scandinavian traditions didn't segregate the Jews as anything unusual.
Anyway, Dunkards dip you three times ~ for the Father, for the Son and for the Holy Ghost.
That church finally withered away and most of the congregation moved into a couple of DOC churches in the vicinity.
There are other Dunkard churches in America, but that was the only non-German non-German language Dunkard church that anyone knows about from that period of time.
