I didn’t have the option of smiling and claiming to be the pretty one...

And yet you have because the Arminian is smarter and more pious than his neighbor next door who doesn't believe. The Arminian chooses correctly all by his lonesome. Congratulations. Well done. Good work.

Funny, too, how your analogy is shrouded in sexism.

As 1000silverlings noted, your tag fits right it.

I've noticed that when Roman Catholics are losing the arguments on some of these threads, certain Arminian posters pop up and derail the discussion.

Perhaps that's their intent.

“I’ve noticed that when Roman Catholics are losing the arguments on some of these threads, certain Arminian posters pop up and derail the discussion.”

I haven’t posted on a religion thread for a long time, and will drop off this one now. When I’m asked to say who Jesus is...what is next? A demand that I discuss all the names of God, or describe all of life in 25 words or less?

When someone who has debated Catholics on the priesthood, real presence, baptism, infant baptism, the Pope, works, etc is accused of trying to ‘go back to Rome’, it becomes a waste of time.

If someone has a serious question and wants to discuss it, that is fine. But this thread has thousands of posts as the same group make the same accusations, same insults and same churlishness that drove me from the religion threads last spring.

RnMomof7 is correct in believing I have far more in common with her theology than I do with Catholics...and I appreciate the spirit with which she makes her arguments. HarleyD has been honest and serious with me, and I appreciate that. I think boatbums knows the regard I have for her.

But let’s be realistic. I’m not likely to change any of your minds, and you are not likely to change mine - so let’s leave it. We disagree. God will have to sort things out in His time and in His way. Until then, I will gladly pray with any of you for revival, for a spiritual awakening in America, and pray that God may forgive my many errors.

If anyone wants to read more on the non-Calvinist side, I recommend the SEA, although I am not a member. (http://evangelicalarminians.org/) I think they are the most responsible single source forum for Arminian ideas. But it will only encourage parts of me that I don’t want to encourage to debate this here longer.

Really? That's what you've noticed? Fascinating.

What I've noticed is that, on occasion, the bigotry of certain anti-Catholics becomes particularly obnoxious and Protestants who realize that bigotry isn't actually something that Christians should aspire to will step in and point out how un-Christian the anti-Catholics are.

I'm curious though? What do you define as Catholics "losing" the arguments? Can you point to a single one of these threads where a Catholic FReeper has actually decided to become a Calvinist? What exactly is it that you think you have "won" here?

Several days ago I pointed out something about this thread that nobody has seemed to address and that is the FACT that this thread was posted and written by a pro-abortion, ATHEIST FReeper who was banned for being a troll. The premise of this thread is based on an absurd assumption that is based on a totally false understanding of historical events, yet a group of dedicated swarmed the thread and I can only conclude that this was done because they were attracted to the title.

I must say that it was rather eye-opening yesterday to see a thread posted where Calvinists openly call other Protestants satanic and blasphemous. But I still wonder, if God has predestined EVERYTHING and man has no free will at all, what is the point in Calvinists engaging in these debates? Are certain Calvinists predestined to show how hateful they can be? Or do they secretly doubt their own salvation and think that sadistic attempts at demonstrating superiority will some how prove their predestination?

Dr. E --> that's making it personal and also presuming to read someone else's mind/intentions.

Your post was to Mr Rogers; 1000 silverlings; HarleyD; RnMomof7 -- with only Mr. R as the Arminian.

Hence, your post, though framed delicately is a personal attack

Secondly, I have not seen Mr Rogers or any Arminian come on any Protestant-Catholic thread for nearly a year, so your very statement is incorrect.

Thirdly, Mr. R has also been having a side-discussion with kosta and maryz debating canon in which his views are not apostolic, so accusing him of somehow "supporting Catholicism" is not true -- he's arguing for his own beliefs.

Fourthly, this thread has a number of non-Calvinists -- Quix (pentecostal) for one and a couple of lutherans and I would wager Iscool (though not sure if he follows the Arminian or Calvinist belief in double predestination), so there are a wide range of viewpoints and you can't say "Calvinist thought is winning" as plainly Pentecostals (for example) are NOT Calvinistic in the main.
