And there you go, flying off into “replacement theology” all by your lonesome.
Some folks are best advised to treat their mind like a bad neighborhood. Never go there alone.

their own worship of God -- indeed their very understanding of God -- is so stunted, so truncated, so limitedThat's basically at the root of it. Either it's man and to be hated or God and to be worshiped. And any picture or statute can be the target of worship - because there's nothing in between. Veneration = worship because "honor" is neither hate nor worship - inconceivable.
always at the Catholic Church
Some folk's religion is all about being against something, not what they are for. It's a unity in hate, very far from what Jesus prayed for in the garden before His passion.

Im just curious as to why there must always be a female queen of heaven in all religions. She is always there. Oh, please! Take a course or something!

Oh, and turning the question to the other adherents to sola scriptura — would you, MetMom, Wmfights, Dr. Eck, accept Unitarians as your sola-scriptura Protestant brethern? Especially considering that they deny the Trinity?

It is quite likely that the woman is Israel.
As C.S. Lewis expresses, at the Incarnation, all of Israel had "sharpened" to a young Jewish girl at her prayers.

Look up the IncarnationAnother example of the reductionism, minimalism, etc. in Protestantism. The idea of what the Incarnation means in the context of OT "images" of God is lost, just not minimal enough. Along with the difference between Icon and Idol, Beauty being from God and of God, etc. etc.
There is a strong minimalism as in: "is this necessary?" rather than abundance of life as Jesus taught. And there's a very real dualism: physical=evil...

It was Rome that changed it It was the Resurrection that changed it. As I understand it, the early still Jewish Christians continued to observe the Sabbath (the seventh day), but the also celebrated the "eighth" day -- the first day of the new beginning.

Nice -- and very indicative of the anti-Church folks on this thread:
"A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring: there shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and drinking largely sobers us again"

OF COURSE I DON’T SPEAK FOR ALL PRODDYS.
I DON’T EVEN KNOW EXACTLY AND PRECISELY WHO I SPECIFICALLY SPEAK FOR WHEN I USE THAT PHRASE. I JUST KNOW THAT MOST OF MY GROUP OF CONSULTANTS WOULD LIKELY AGREE WITH MOST OF SUCH STATEMENTS WHEN I USE SUCH PHRASES. AND, THEY HAVE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY OF CORRECTING ME.

DEPENDS ON how one construes such phrases and realities.
Perhaps the rest of the Proddys will speak to these issues.
