Especially in light of the fact that, to Rome, it's not about finding a common ground with non-catholics.
"The results will be that, little by little, as the obstacles to perfect ecclesiastical communion are overcome, all Christians will be gathered, in common celebration of the Eucharist, into the unity of the one and only Church, which Christ bestowed on his Church from the beginning. This unity, we believe, subsists in the Catholic Church as something she can never lose, and we hope that it will continue to increase until the end of time. - Second Vatican Council.
This UNITY, is a one way street. A dead end for anyone foolish enough to think there will be compromise by Rome in order to unify the body.
INDEED.
Can you imagine what it will feel like . . .
once the realization sinks in . . . that those who throw rocks at what Holy Spirit has authentically been up to . . .
when the realization sinks in that they have thrown rocks at Holy Spirit and HIS doings?
BOGGLES MY MIND.
Perhaps we should pray and ask God to educate such folks sooner and more gently instead of
later and more harshly.
Oh, there is compromise, no doubt...but it is also as you say, so compromise is short lived. No doubt, the time is soon when it will be a hardy few who will not submit. The signs of the times say that more will be going in than coming out.
Thx for the reply.
On the Contrary, The Church has found common grounds with the Traditional Anglican Church, we have initiated communion with the Anglo-Lutheran Church and are talking to the Lutheran Augusburg Church. We will keep communicating with Traditional, conservative groups that maintain orthodoxy. But we won’t talk to non-Christian groups like seventh day adventists and the fringe “ewangelical” groups
