Is Glenn Beck Saved? (A Short Review of Mormonism)
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog ^ | 8/5/10 | Kelly Sensenig

Glenn Beck is one of the most popular political commentators in the United States. Between his TV show, and nationally syndicated talk-radio show, Beck reaches millions of Americans every day with his commentary about politics. Glenn Beck is also a convert to the Mormon faith, joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1999 along with his wife and children. However, his recent comments regarding God, salvation, and the Gospel on his TV show have caused some evangelical Christians to contemplate the salvation of Glenn Beck, even as a member of the Mormon Church.

We know that it’s the desire of political conservatives, constitutionalists, and Christians to take back America and stop the socialistic trends in this country. We are grateful for Glenn Beck and others like him who are standing behind the constitution and foundational basis of this country. Every evangelical Christian should support them in these goals. However, in sharing this common goal and desire we must be careful to not cross the line and become undiscerning in our theology and assessment of those who may only be masking as Evangelical Christians or “transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ” (2 Cor. 11:13-15).

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

**I just do NOT understand how he can have so much knowledge politically, and so little knowledge, religiously.**

Me either. It just doesn’t make sense at all. (I blame it on his wife.)

Blame it on modern American all paths are valid don't offend anyone Oprah Winfrey “Christianity”.

We see evidence of its destruction in this very thread.

As Christians it is well within our purview to question the salvation of NON Christians and challenge any doctrine that tried to claim the title of “christian” but is most obviously false.

That is why we were to to go ye into all the world. If the other faiths are to not be questioned, if we are not to question others salvation, why leave home, why spread the word that Jesus himself spread to the unsaved.

Jesus questioned the salvation of others, as his servants are we to do any less?

There was a time American Christians understood this, they understood exactly what John 14:6 meant. We knew that there was a time to witness and a time to defend the faith. We sang “Onward Christians Soldiers” because we meant it, not just out of habit.

Sorry I have been reading this thread and now am ranting a little...

Carry on.

Sadly I think that happens a lit. The let members stay “Stay Christian” and they are none the wiser because they are kept in the dark and mesmerized by pretty buildings and fancy words. I have seen evidence of such in these very forums from LDS defenders who know little of their cults dogma and doctrine, and indeed contradict it when trying to argue points of faith.

All whilst SLC gets their ten percent and free labor from their “mark”...

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

-Mahatma Gandhi

Well, since Gandhi, the authority on Christians said it, it must be true! If he knew Christ, he would have been a Christian instead of a Hindu.

Hindus, by the way have fewer gods (350 million) than mormons (trillions!)!

Neither seems to be able to recognize Christ or His Church.

If Ghandi saw more Christlike behavior from “Christians”, perhaps he would have.

The thread was started in order to induce people to contemplate the salvation status of a specific person.

I made my comments in the context of the thread.

“If Ghandi saw more Christlike behavior from “Christians”, perhaps he would have.”

People become Christians because the Holy Spirit works in their hearts to lead them to Christ and not because they like people. It is Christ and not people who are the focus.

Where you have people, you have hypocrites who live in a way different than they represent by their speech. They will always be around.

There is a more important question though, Riply...

Exactly how small do you have to be to hide behind a hypocrite?

Christ didn’t ask people to let their light shine for no reason.

The admonition to know them my their fruits comes straight from the savior.

You can choose to trash your fellow man and their beliefs all you want, but don’t expect me to play your hate game back and forth. It serves only him who is the enemy of Christ.

“You can choose to trash your fellow man and their beliefs all you want, but don’t expect me to play your hate game back and forth.”

Riply, there isn’t anyone I hate, so you are making a huge assumption as to my motives, which is mind-reading.

If you truly believe this, please show me exactly where I “trashed my fellow man”. [No fair counting Joseph Smith, who is worthy of being reviled as a deceiver. Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul condemned him already.]

I do hate false teachings that lead people to hell, if that is what you mean when you write, “trashing... beliefs”

Mormonism, the doctrine, is among these. It teaches exactly what Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul explicitly warned the Church about and condemned. In fact, what the they and Christian Church condemned, mormonism exalts.

“It serves only him who is the enemy of Christ.”

The mormon Christ, created spirit being who got a body and became a god, or the Christian Jesus Christ, neither created nor made, but eternally God? Which do you refer to here?

The first, is an enemy of the Truth. The Second is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Which?

best,
AMPU

Some day I truly hope you have a “Road to Damascus” moment. Saul thought he was doing God a favor as well in his self righteous denigration of believers... before he was given a change of heart through direct revelation.

Thank God that Paul became the man he did.

Good day.

Riply,

You wrote...

“Some day I truly hope you have a “Road to Damascus” moment. Saul thought he was doing God a favor as well in his self righteous denigration of believers... before he was given a change of heart through direct revelation.”

Some day I hope you learn the truth of what the Bible teaches and not the perversion of mormon teaching. Salvation is in Jesus Christ, who is a different Jesus than your mormon church presents.

For the record:

1. The same Paul who had the Road to Damascus experience is the same Apostle Paul who wrote:

” I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all.

[...This is exactly what mormonic deceivers do - try to draw Christians away to another gospel, which is really no gospel at all. They have good company with the other cults that try to do exactly the same with their own “scriptures”.]

“Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!”

[...this includes the mormonic angel moroni, Joseph Smith’s visitors, and the 50,000 mormonic deceivers that are sent out to deceive and pervert the gospel daily.]

“As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! “

[...”eternally condemned” - Oh, that Apostle Paul and his trashing of others and their beliefs! Oh the hate games he played!]

The gospel of mormonic teaching is another gospel that is different than the Gospel of Christ. All who preach the perverted gospel have moved from being the deceived to now being the deceivers when they start to teach the heresies.]

2. The same Paul who had the Road to Damascus experience is the same Apostle Paul met the REAL Jesus Christ that Bible presents, not a made up, created spirit being who later became one of trillions of mormonic so-called gods, which aren’t gods at all.

3. Thank God that Paul got the Gospel directly from Jesus Christ!

He wrote, “ I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.”

He was well positioned to condemn any other false gospel. Fortunately, God inspired the Apostle Paul to write a huge portion of the New Testament and include these words.

Good weekend to you too,
ampu
