It does leave one speechless how relics are venerated.
It sure is too bad Catholics elevate material items to such a high level. It makes them look ridiculous.
It makes one wonder what Jesus has to do with their religion. Is He just some stamp of approval they add to justify the rest of what they set up to believe.
Matthew 8:22
But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Luke 9:60
Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
Thank you for the welcome.
Do you interpret those scripture passages to mean it is a sin to bury the dead? ...or a sin to venerate saintly relics?
Don't forget what St. Paul said about the Crucifixion of Our Lord. "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness." If the death of Our Lord itself is a "stumbling block" and "foolishness," then it's not surprising that to some eyes, something lesser, such as the veneration of the saints' relics, would appear to be "ridiculous."
