Never mind the dilapidated rails in the Keys There haven't been rails in the Keys for 75 years.

LOL, that could very well be. But I have to say, the creativity of Freepers in their responses (See the above “Monkey-Flying-Butt” explanation above!) does make them entertaining.
They aren’t nearly as acrimonious as the Chet99 threads about pit bulls and eaten faces, but...there are some laughs in here.
Sure, sinking money into rail makes my blood pressure go up. But then I see responses that immediately bring it down...
It’s all good...:)

However wise, or unwise, Henry Flagler’s investment was at the time, his railroad to Key West came to an abrupt end on Labor Day in 1935.

A group of private investors — including Peter Karmanos, Dan Gilbert, Roger Penske and Mike Ilitch — previously committed more than $100 million to construct the first phase of the line, known as the M-1 Rail project, which will run from Jefferson Ave. to the New Center.
Interesting group. Karmanos is a Detroit guy who own the Carolina Hurricanes. He recently put 49% of the Hurricanes up for sale. IIRC, Ilitch owns the Red Wings. If I further recall the two of them - Ilitch and Karmanos - used to not get along. Penske everybody knows. Dan Gilbert sounds familiar but I don’t know him. I bet these guys - classic insiders - know a thing or two - like maybe this is a sure thing - one way or another.

You spend a half bil to build light rail NEAR your butt, and then the monkeys will all just naturally want to come out to ride it. :) The monkeys are just there for the free Wi-Fi. If not for the free Wi-Fi, the monkey's wouldn't give your butt the time of day. Monkeys are like that.
