Joseph Smith was worse than bad....how Mormons can rely on such a con-man or anything he wrote of God is more than mindboggling. I am fast believing this isn’t at all about religion...even for the members...it’s about power and all that is typical of men and organizations seeking that..and the revenues from it.
How is it that membership do not do their homework on just the financial end of this organization is beyond me. That alone should be a huge headsup. What a total scam!
Before this 'prophet' came around Jesus already established 12 apostles who's recorded Jesus' teachings as well as wrote what became our NT. Being much closer to the source and writing the scriptures that repudiate mormonism on every turn, I have to laugh at those who actually believe that these so called 'latter day prophets' are more inspired than Jesus or the Apostles were. Hinkley, spreading more typical mormon hubris on the matter, ignores the fact that the creeds can be found WAY before Nicea and are throughly documented by the scriptures.
When you really dont know who God is
and you dont understand the love that He had and has for us
and you dont understand that Jesus is God and gave His life on the Cross
and you dont understand the power that Jesus shed on the Cr4oss to save us
and you dont understand that all of us black white female male can go to Heaven if we repent and believe..
and yoiu dont understand why God would have anyone damned and go to Hell...and youre scared of that...
you can be easily manipulated by slick religious salesmen...
Then if you are told not to question or you wont go to Heaven...you wont question...
then if you are told to drink the doctrinal kool ade and that its yummy...you’ll drink and deny that it poisoned and burnt your throat..
then you will attempt to buy your way into a sure Heaven...by giving a multi billion dollar crooked business venture 10% of your hard earned cash and food out of your babies mouths and not asdk why the crooked business is building themselves a $5 billion shopping mall, island restorts, insurance companies and trhe mo9st land any private enterprise outside the US government has ever owned in the USA instead of feeding the poor and reaching the lost with your money..
You wont ...JUST IN CASE...
Just in case...Joey Smith was right
Just in case ...mormonism is twoo...
Just in case those Chrsitians are wrong about the mormons..
Just in case your biushop is not lying to you when he says he must talk to your 8 year old daughter ALONE and its a “righteous” thing to do (Then he discusses sex with her and teaches her things she shouldnt know OH YEAH)
Just in case the only way to “jesus” is through those temples that you need to be worthy of to enter...
Just in case your husband decides he doesnt want to call you from the grave... how will you know ?? Hes a priesthood holder...what if the mormon god tells him not to call you after he is out of his own grave ??? all you can do is do everything he says no matter how bizarre or unrighteous and hope he calls you
Youst in case...your gggg grandma wasnt baptised...and you love her dont you ??? enough to get worthy so you can be necro dunked for her ??? you better get that done just in case it is true
Just in case...and the list goes on...and more people use prozsac in Utah than any other state because they live and breathe by JUST IN CASE...mormonism really is twoo...
The chrsitians on the other hand dont ever worry about JUST IN CASE because Jesus never tol.d us to obey Him JUST IN CASE...
Jesus is Gos and God cannot lie because only man lies and God has never been man ..God has always been God.. and God dont ever change as the song goes...
We chrsitians can relie on the Bible the only Word of God which has the words of Jesus where He tells us that God the Father loved us so much that He sent Jesus to be born of a virgin untouched by man or mormon god and to shed His Blood on the Cross and to die for us on the Cross and to rise again the third day to save us...
God’s plan was that those who believed would be saved and go to Heaven
and those who refused to believe would be damnhed, condemned and go to Hell..
God’s word is final on this..
abnd all the dead dunked in those dead dens of iniquity the mormons call their temples cannot change that...
There is a gulf between Heaven and Hell and no man can cross it...
Only Jesus who is God has ever been in both places...
If gggg grandma died a Christian she is in Heaven and wont thank her descendent for trying to drag her out of there...
If ggg grandma died an unbeliever she is in Hell and all the water in the Gandi wont get her out of there...and by now she nows it wont be happening...
But dead dunking has worked for Joey Smith and his disciples as a great money making con for 180 years...
Why would they want to stop now...the sheeple still have a dollar or 2 that can be squeezed to keep the multi millionaire suits in the mormon penthouse in Temple Square in silk underoos and chaffeur driven limos and lobster and oil CEO salaries...for life..
But JUST IN CASE...
there is that order at the general conference about 6 years ago...
Pay your tithe instead of buying food for your children...
Source ???
Yeppers I have one...
“Among those who do not sacrifice there are two extremes: one is the rich, gluttonous man who won’t and the other is the poor, destitute man who believes he can’t. But how can you ask someone who is starving to eat less? Is there a level of poverty so low that sacrifice should not be expected or a family so destitute that paying tithing should cease to be required?
One reason the Lord illustrates doctrines with the most extreme circumstances is to eliminate excuses. If the Lord expects even the poorest widow to pay her mite, where does that leave all others who find that it is not convenient or easy to sacrifice?
No bishop, no missionary should ever hesitate or lack the faith to teach the law of tithing to the poor. The sentiment of “They can’t afford to” needs to be replaced with “They can’t afford not to.”
One of the first things a bishop must do to help the needy is ask them to pay their tithing. Like the widow, if a destitute family is faced with the decision of paying their tithing or eating, they should pay their tithing.”

We believe the Bible, but allow that it is not error-free, and is not the complete collection of revelation from God. It has come to us through human hands, and translators and scribes could have made errors.
It is clear from the Bible itself that not all that God has revealed is contained in it. Many books, revelations and writings mentioned in the Bible have not made it into the current compendium.
I also don’t have any problem believing that God, being unchangeable, could cause revelations to come forth from a time and place other than those in the Bible. It is perfectly reasonable to me that God could call prophets to provide revelations to the world in our day — he has done so at various times and places in the past.
I’m sorry to read what you say regarding Gordon B. Hinckley. He is a man that I love and respect, and I know him to be a man filled with the love of God, indeed a man called by God as a prophet. I have no doubt that he has gone on to a prophet’s reward.

BUT....mormons believe the Book of Mormon, which was supposedly on gold plates found by a 14-year-old, translated via said youth who, with "human eyes" did so while peering into his hat.."IS error-free, and IS the complete collection of revelation from God."
I believe someone is spiking the KoolAid, along with the green Jello.

Hi greyfoxx,
Latter-day Saints do not see the Book of Mormon as the complete collection of revelation from God.
It is one book of scripture, but not the only one.

"Primarily, the aim of this work is to "show how the Book of Mormon verifies what the Lord said on that occasion [referring to the organization of the Church] and to support the Prophet Joseph's statement." It is also to "motivate both members of the Church and those who are not yet members to study the Book of Mormon and learn its inspired message" (p. 2).

I won't quibble over semantics. My statement stands: "BUT....mormons believe the Book of Mormon, which was supposedly on gold plates found by a 14-year-old, translated via said youth who, with human eyes did so while peering into his hat..IS error-free, and IS the complete collection of revelation from God.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
How darling...
HEY !!! Norm !!!
in the mormon book that Joey Smith wrote he said..
they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes
(Joseph Smith, Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 1:7)
Now since Joey was “brought down into captivity”, and got his silly butt killed shooting his way out of jail, it stands to reason since you believe Joey’s book to be “true” that you would have to agree Joey was “brought down into captivity” because of his iniquity...
Then the discip[les of Joey Smith who were in the land of Il were cursed and had to leave...because of Joey and his iniquity..
I didnt say it, Joey Smith, your mormon savior/prophet did..

THIS POST COMMEMORATES PASSING 1500 RESPONSES TO THE MORMON MISSIONARY DECEPTION METHOD
This thread was started by Restornu, who (apparently) in a moment of emotion, posted my words from another thread. I forgave her and am thrilled that thousands of people now know what mormons try to avoid telling their potential converts.
They are not alone. Free Republic mormons also are very hesitant to let people know the things in post #1.
In fact...
After 1500 responses, NOT A SINGLE MORMONITE has come forward to deny any of the points in post #1.
There is a reason for this: it is all true. And none of it is Christian.
HEY !!! Norm !!!
in the mormon book that Joey Smith wrote he said..
they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.
(Joseph Smith, Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 1:7)
Oh dear Joey Smith’s disciples sold the mormon temple in Nauvoo to the Catholics and left and went to Utah...
Someone else not mormons but more righteous are now blessed with the land in Nauvoo...
Joey and his disciples fled rather than go to jail in MO...
Now the restored restored mormons...err the Reformed LDS own and are blessed by the land where Eden was and whhere jesus will return and the buildings in Independance instead of Joey and his disciples who must have committed iniquity to be so cursed...
Utah territory once reached from inside CA, to NV, ID, etc and all of the later state of Utah...
Whoops The disciples of Joey Smith lost much of their theocratic ditatorship kingdom of Deseret because of ??? Yes iniquity..
Although there are about 70% mormon population in Utah, most of the land is now owned and blessed and enjoyed by righteous apostates...
Joey said it...Flame him not me...
Vindicated by the LORD Jesus Christ
What the devil meant for evil, God meant for our good...
Well wow Tennessee Nana...that pretty much does cover it I’d say.
I was reaading stories today of people who have left Mormonism....they pretty much experienced what you wrote to one degree or another. Especially sad were husbands and wifes who came to see the lies at different times...it truly pulls on their marriage...but for those who hung in there they would eventually both leave.
I was astounded the degree the Mormon leadership goes to in making people feel guilty....and once they leave the shunning etc. So people loose the friendships forged there because those who remain are told they can no longer fellowship with those who have left...including family members.
Mormonism is a sick demented cult that destroys people
1. Convince you of their sincerity 2. Trick you into expressing faith first in the Book of Mormon by praying and asking for a sign (this takes you off the objective ground of Biblical truth and puts you into subjective ground of feelings) 3. Convince you that the Bible has errors in its translation 4. Trick you into expressing faith in the prophet Joseph Smith 5. Trick you into expressing faith in the Restoration of the Gospel (see Galatians Chapter one) 6. Get you all the way into the baptismal font...
Well, having been through the conversion process I might respond to this.
1. The LDS members I met on first learning about the church were indeed sincere and friendly.
2. As I first learned about Mormonism, I felt an assurance of its truthfulness. I had been seeking and I knew I found what I had been looking for.
3. I really didn’t need convincing on this point. Naturally there are going to be errors in translations — each version of the Bible differs because of different opinions of the translators.
4. I wasn’t tricked on this point. I believed in Joseph Smith’s prophetic calling independently of any other person.
5. Ditto. I believed it on my own.
6. I wanted to be baptized.
My conversion was between me and God. I was not pushed, cajoled, forced — I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I wanted to.

The Bible warns of false teachers who promote "another Jesus whom we have not preached" (2 Corinthians 11:4). The Apostle Paul warned the Corinthians not to believe everyone who preached "Jesus." The true Jesus was based on the tradition of apostolic preaching - the Jesus "we preached." Paul compared the preaching another Christ outside of that tradition with the deception of the serpent in the Garden of Eden (2 Corinthians 11:4, Genesis 3 1:4-5). In the same context, Paul warned the Church to beware of ".false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:13).
Who Is Jesus?
Christian creeds contain the basic beliefs of traditional Christians - including what they believe about Christ. Christians claim that their creeds are based solely on the Bible. Furthermore, the authority of the creeds rests on their underlying scripture. Because the creeds are derived from and dependent on biblical data, there is a remarkable uniformity between the creeds of various denominations and churches. This is especially true on the essential doctrines such as the Person of Christ.
Unlike the traditional Christian view of Jesus based solely on the Bible, Hinckley's Christ is based to a large extent on extra-biblical revelation. It is not surprising then to find significant differences.(watchman.org)
If the authority of the scriptures is questionable to Mormons then there is no foundation on which they can stand for all truth must stand the ultimate test of the scriptures. So in saying scriptures are not true then you have no source of truth.
