** ex Roman Catholics who left that church **

I hate to break this to you, but those people whom you think left the Catholic Church are really still Catholics — although they may not be practicing the faith at this time. When they were baptized a Catholic it was for life. They join famous people like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck — also non=practicing Catholics.

There are three Sacraments that mark a Catholics soul. Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Orders. Those marks are still there no matter what they or you think about it. They are still Catholics!

If I’m not mistaken Salvation it is ONLY the catholic church who still sees them as catholics once they leave it. But either way one looks at this, his testimony is he is now saved and in the service of the Lord...and no longer bound to the Law but Free in Christ. And that’s a very good thing.

Does your church count them on it's membership roles even though they have become Born Again Christians and are members at other churches?

Geeze! And... Some wonder why the Catholic Church is called a cult? Cult members are taught that it is impossible to leave the cult, and to so, one risks eternal damnation.

Talk about emotional blackmail.

I would think, certainly, that there are those who were baptised Catholic, left attending that church, get baptised in a Protestant denomination and still are haunted by the memories of their Catholic upbringing. I went to a Baptist Church with many whose testimonies obsessed about the awfulness of Roman Catholicism to the point where those of us who were never Catholic began to suspect that “the lady doth protest too much.” It is an interesting perspective that you provide, a little repressive to those of us born Protestant, but perhaps very true given my experience.

That kind of hubris is why Rome is bleeding membership.

It's like telling an ex-democrat, now Republican, that he is really still a democrat.

No, he's not. Men change. Often for the better, God willing.

Unless the Church officially disowns you. They are in charge, not you.
