Would infused contemplation be very, very, very deep prayer?

Yes; and I think, although I’m not sure, that it may actually happen more often than we know. It’s an “odd” situation because prayer implies active thinking/recitation of set prayer, (the Our Father for example), or what I call “free base” prayer, which is essentially when we make up our own prayers....kinda like that conversation in your head when you pray, “God, I really need to find that wrench” or something similar. What happens with infused contemplation, which can happen at any time but is probably more often to happen in the course of “active” prayer, is that your mind actually goes blank but remains focused on the “love object”, i.e. Jesus. Actually, though I don’t talk about it to anyone, it’s happened to me; but I don’t do it intentionally.....it just happens. After it happens I become quite unsettled by the whole experience and quit pryaing, sometimes for days or weeks at a time; but then I find myself going back to praying. This cycle has been goiing on with me for about three years now.
