How else can you explain The Church surviving 2000 years of heresies

That's easily explainable...And what are heresies to your religion are mostly music to God's ears...The bible condemns your religion as has been shown numerous times on FR Religion...

And you are correct...God is not done with your religion, yet...

So, of course, you have no problem with the interpretation of the Pente-costals like the ones they say that you can lose your salvation or their belief in holy laughter and others that you must display talking in tongues as proof?

This seems to be the typical RC argument. Take an example that seems a bit odd and try to claim that since you don't want to be subject to the RCC man made heresy you agree with the group sited. Trying to make the point that someone must be in charge and it should be you RCC reveals a lack of faith.

My EO FIL began the process of becoming Born Again when he tried to make that weak argument that someone has to be in charge and my young son said to him "shouldn't that be Jesus".

Jesus provides for His flock.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.

The point that the control freaks over at the RCC just don't get is the Holy Spirit will sort it out. Do some churches go off the rails sure, just look at your church. However, you find the Holy Spirit will convict believers when they are caught up in error and those believers will try and show that congregation the error, or leave.

The greatest threat to Christianity is the centralized hierarchy that claims it has all the answers and insists on uniformity not the decentralized churches. The problem with the centralized hierarchy is once error sets in it becomes orthodoxy.

How could someone know the Catholic faith is the only true faith and then reject it? That would be impossible for any sane human being. Worse than suicide, to condemn oneself to a loss of salvation. Think again on this one.

I can assure you from personal experience, it's not impossible at all. It's entirely possible to be completely convinced of the veracity of the Church, but still reject Her teachings because the "love" (for lack of a better term) for one's Sin is greater than the love for Truth, i.e., the Church.

Never underestimate the power of sin, never. Even over a Christian Baptized by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Aren't you Catholic and doesn't the Catholic Church believe and teach this?

These heretics were branded (and murdered) for refusing to bow down to a pope...God doesn't view that as 'malarkey' according to His scriptures...It's a pity you left...

Evil done in the name of the faith is a terrible thing. Always.

But, the evil is an aberration. I had to get past that in order to fairly examine what and where is the church. It wasn’t easy.

For me it begins with “I will build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Then I need to find out if that happened or not.

Jesus was speaking of those souls who were held captive behind the gates of Hell...

Jesus unlocked the gates and released the captives...The gates of Hell have not prevailed against the church since then...And it has absolutely nothing to do with the Catholic religion...

And Jesus built His church...Peter had a minor role in leading the Jews to Jesus...Paul had a massive role in leading Gentiles to Jesus...

The ancient teaching is that the “Harrowing of Hell” occurred between the Crucifixion amd the Resurrection and that the Church was instituted on Pentecost - almost two months after the Resurrection.

How can the church be involved in the descent into hell?

So, explain it if you say it is so “easily explainable”. And you think that heresies like Arianism or Marcionism or Paulicianism is music to God’s ears? Wow.

Do you agree with these completely different Pent-s-costal doctrines? Or your own interpretation of Baptist interpretation of Calvin's interpretation?

I’m asking YOU if you agree with this — this is a Pent-s-costal teaching. Some of them call themselves Protestant. Your own Presbyterian group calls itself Protestant. Which interpretation on this is correct? Are the Pentestcostal Protestants correct that you can lose your salvation or are the Calvinist Protestants correct in their interpretation?

How can the church be involved in the descent into hell?

It can't, SINCE Jesus was resurrected...

There was every potential there for Jesus NOT to have risen...AND NOT to be Crucified on the Cross...Jesus offered Himself as the Jewish Messiah (even knowing HE would be rejected)...

But had Jesus been accepted as the Messiah, there would have been no church...Dead men's souls would still have gone to Abraham's Bosom, that locked compartment in Hell...

The gates of Hell prevailed against Abraham's Bosom...But Jesus prophesied that these gates would not prevail against His prophetical church...

Has nothing to do with the powers of Hell or the Catholic religion...

What did the Arians believe that would send them to Hell??? How about the Paulicans...What was their unforgivable sin???

And Pentecostals??? Talking in tongues will send you to Hell??? Or the belief of losing your salvation and getting it back??? IF that's true, then all Catholics are guaranteed a place in hell...

Oh, God HAS a Church, the one HE founded, united in belief in Him. That is the ONE Catholic and Apostolic Church which retains the beliefs as taught for the past 2000 years. This is not a denomination like the myriad sub-sub-sub-sub-sects that have been spawned in the past 500 years (while the first gen Protestant groups have declined, as was expected, the 5th gen (new “pent-c-costal” groups) are due to die out rather quickly, like all heresies)
