GARDEN GROVE, Calif. The Rev. Robert H. Schuller, founder of Southern California's Crystal Cathedral megachurch and host of the "Hour of Power" televangelism broadcast, announced Sunday he will retire after 55 years in the pulpit and his daughter will take over.
The 83-year-old Schuller told his congregation that Sheila Schuller Coleman will become sole lead pastor, after sharing that role with her father for the past year.
Coleman previously served as principal of a private Christian school run by the cathedral and head of the Orange County church's family ministries division.
She was ordained just a month before she was appointed to head up Crystal Cathedral Ministries.

let's hope she sticks to the gospel rather than new age-ism

Haven’t been following the Rev. Schuller - would he have picked a New Age’r as a replacement?

what happened to his son?

Coleman's appointment comes two years after Schuller's son, the Rev. Robert A. Schuller, split from the church during a family rift that made headlines. The younger Schuller had been groomed to take over for his father. Did not know that, but I don't follow closely. Nice man, but kind of boring. They did not have a very large attendance.

big split a few years ago...he is now part of new-life I believe in DFW area.

From what I understand he’s a Norman Vincent Peale “Power of Positive Thinking” guy.

I think Robert Jr was really walking the walk instead of following the "possibility thnking" path that his father chose following in Norman Vincent Peale's footsteps.
It will be interesting to see what his daughter does.

I once bumped into him at a liquor store in Orange CA.

Interesting. Reminds one of the Armstrongs years ago - Herbert and son Garner Ted.

Which reminds me - how can you tell the difference between a Methodist and a Baptist?
A Methodist will say hello to you in the liquor store

Impressive building, right around the corner from Disneyland.

Call me old fashioned, but I don’t believe women should be pastors of churches. I do not see anywhere in Scripture that this is condoned, in fact, I read in I Timothy 2:12, that Paul said a woman should not teach or be in authority (usurping) over men. The role of pastor is a position of authority over the congregation.

True, true, true. But . . . he did have Krinton’s number long before all of the evangelical lap dogs Krinton gathered for cover in the wake of Lewinski.

Too true.
I got more out of him before I was saved.
Spiritual lineage:
=> Schuller got his inspiration from Norman Vincent Peale
=> NVP got his inspiration from Ernest Holmes
=> Ernest Holmes founded the mind-science cult Religious Science, or Science of Mind the cult from which the Lord saved me.
