that is a good point. It follows then that many if not most food being forbidden by government is really OK since we have always eaten them. As kids we have dropped food and chewing gum in the dirt, picked it up and eaten. (think Boy Scout camping trips) And the stuff they feed the Army in the field would kill a lesser man, but the GI is better for it. I suspect there are many examples where we are conditioned and/or inoculated by past experiences. Considering the many dumb things I have done that are now considered lethal, I know that it is only by the grace of God that I am alive.

That is probably why the most strident antis boycott the ecumenical RF threads.

Considering the many dumb things I have done that are now considered lethal, I know that it is only by the grace of God that I am alive.I have often said that about not only myself and my brothers, but about my children..who years later informed me of their "escapades". However, we hadn't had any contact with vampires. THAT may have changed the outcome.

From the Religion Moderator's profile:
"Posters who try to tear down others beliefs or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended."
[RM] Specifically, which posts do you find to be antagonistic?
To side with Satan (making silly jokes about his occult) is to be antagonistic towards Christian beliefs on same. For instance, if your child had autism and you put up a thread regarding his disease and I turned around and put up a couple of photos (keeping in mind your thread is an Ecumenical one) of cats acting retarded, would you then understand a little better what it means to be antagonistic?

On a more serious note, mlizzy, you are posting about the paganization of our culture and I certainly agree that it is alarming.
What it shows about us is that we are less and less a Christian nation. We are a nation obsessed with visions of mystic practices, magical powers, mythical tales, symbols, magic, everlasting youth. The lure of these have always been and will always be powerful.
There is only one answer to the dangers of worshiping the occult and that is Jesus Christ. We need to bring the light of Christ to as many people as possible. Only he can rid us of demons.
You will not stop it by trying to place limits on free expression.

You'll have to talk to Obama about the "free expression" thing. :)
But the caucus designations on Free Republic are a great way to discuss topics of a more serious nature with other Christians without silly sophomoric/distracting comments. Free Republic shines in that regard by providing them, but the Ecumenical Caucus evidently doesn't hold the same seriousness as the CC one.

I would post a substantive response, but the Religion Forum rules are too goofy & inconsistent with the rest of FR for me to take the risk.

The Ecumenical rules are a bit confusing to me as well. I will try to remember to post on Catholic Caucus only in the future. Those rules I understand! My apologies ...

I dont believe the Vampire Biting is really a Twilight phenomena. Weve discussed this Biting and other Vampire activities for years before Twilight was written. There was a whole Vampire culture similar to the Goth set long before now. Nevertheless, it is encouraging it.
There's little new under the sun, but all it takes is some movie to escalate some twisted new fad.
This glorifying vampires is very troubling. There's nothing good that comes from the occult or getting involved with it, but Satan would like us to think that it's harmless so makes it seem so innocent and fun.

Frankly, I though it was a "satire of the Ecumenical label" thread.

Since the mods ask for exact titles, I tried to make sure (in Comment #1) that my intent was clear. (Sorry if it led to confusion.) Here's Comment #1 again:
Please note: This is an ecumenical thread.
Harry Potter and the Paganization of Culture, by Michael D. O'Brien
Twilight of the West, by Michael D. O'Brien
A whole generation of teenage girls is absolutely swooning about the new vampire flick, Twilight, and its sequel, New Moon. Some are going to this movie in prom dresses, fantasizing about what it would be like to fall in love with a vampire! This is anything but a fantasy. It is a potential gateway to grave spiritual danger for lonely, isolated kids who are "spiritually hungry" enough to explore the occult --Father Thomas J. Euteneuer, exorcist.
Sorry for the confusion. I'll stick with Catholic Caucus when possible.
