Despite KSL NewsRadios decision to drop Sean Hannitys top-rated syndicated show from its lineup, fans of the conservative talk-show host will likely still be able to hear The Sean Hannity Show on local airwaves.
KNRS-FM (105.7 FM) general manager Stu Stanek said before Thursdays announcement that if KSL did cut its ties with Hannity, then his station would pick up Hannity absolutely with a capital A.
Stanek added Hannity, who is also seen on Fox News Channel, would be the perfect complement to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, whose conservative talk shows air on KNRS.
KSLs decision to end a nine-year partnership with Hannity was not based on ratings but because of a desire to emphasize local content, said Kevin LaRue, program director of KSL NewsRadio. He echoed a statement released by KSL Broadcasting Chief Executive Officer Mark Willes.
We acknowledge the great partnership weve had with Sean Hannity and appreciate his contributions to furthering public dialogue, Willes said. At the end of the day, we simply feel our future success, and competitive advantage reside in creating unique local content, and that is our objective for developing replacement programming.
A discussion on Hannitys replacement has begun, LaRue said, but he wouldnt name any potential hosts. Its no simple thing to replace someone of Mister Hannitys stature, LaRue said.
Stanek speculated on the reason for the decision to drop Hannity. I think part of [Hannitys] show is contradictory to KSLs code, he said.
Stanek was referring to a mission statement that Willes issued in January as head of Deseret Management Corp., the for-profit arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns KSL. The mission said in part, We are trusted voices of light and knowledge, reaching hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Among the principles are integrity, civility, morality and respect for all people, he said.
LaRue would not comment on whether Hannitys often-divisive tone was contradictory to the new mission statement. The CEOs statement speaks for itself, LaRue said.
Hannitys first broadcast on KSL was Oct. 1, 2001, and his show will continue to be aired in the 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. time slot until Oct. 1, LaRue said.
In Salt Lake City, Hannitys talk-show was the No. 1 rated show in his time slot in total listeners under the now-discarded Arbitron diary ratings system. The Sean Hannity Show was also the top-rated program in six of the first nine months of electronic measurement that began last fall, a KSL news release said.
KNRS has no issue with Hannitys tone, content, or ratings, Stanek said.We like the way [Hannity] goes about things, he said.
"Respect for all people?" (Well, apparently not Sean Hannity)...typical Mormon approach, though...disagree with a publishing house getting into the hands of the "opposition"...burn it down -- as what happened in Kirtland Ohio in the 1830s...vehemently disagree with being exposed as a polygamist? As mayor, order its desctruction like Joseph Smith did in Nauvoo.

That says it all -- in effect saying: "We want local content; but don't know who the outer darkness could even begin to replace him."
Sean Hannity has become repetitive and annoying. His show sounds like his screeners intentionally put some of the less intelligent callers on the air, so Sean can raise his voice and cut them off. Compared to his pre-election shows in 2008, Sean has had less and less to say that’s the product of original research (unlike Rush and Glen Beck). And I can’t be the only one, who recognizes that EVERY individual Hannity show is promoted as “special” by his announcer.
all politic be local—democrat plantation mantra.

I tune in if I’m in the car during his show. IMO, his show is starting to become like a broken record. It seems to me that he just regurgitates what Glenn and Rush are saying/doing. Also, he’s still playing that “Let Freedom Ring” song that he’s been playing for the past decade and a half.
Wasn’t KSL one of those evil guys, from Krypton, who use attack Superman?
Among the principles are integrity, civility, morality and respect for all people Baloney, they (lds) don't respect anyone who believes in the Trinity, or The Bible. For over a hundred years they have called Catholics / Christians "whores of Babylon". Where's the respect? Not like we need it.
Why is a story about a radio station dropping Hannity in the Religion Forum?
Sean is a great American, But I can’t listen or watch for more than a few minutes He has become more of an infomercial
as of late .
I turn that guy off as soon as that woman starts hollering “Let Freedom Ring!”.
It seems like I remember every show being special since the 06 elections.
The things that Hannity does that bother me are his unfunny nicknames, calling everyone who agrees with him a Great American, having the same guests every show, starting shows with “allright” or “ok,” and his lack of situational awareness (always has a hard break coming and tells us). In a nutshell, he is too repetitive. I would fire him for that.
Somebody’s feewings get huwt? :(
Is that windbag still on the air?
>>Wasnt KSL one of those evil guys, from Krypton, who use attack Superman?

No, KSL is that terrorist they were gonna try in Manhattan. Remember?
“He is making money for the station. Why did they really drop him? “
Because,.....they could make more money with another program?
Just guessing.
Well, that is a reason.
Yesterday KSL had the darned Utah chapter of the ACLU warning Utahans to NOT travel to Arizona as they might be in danger due to the immigration laws. So I guess we know what the KSL code is!
Sheesh.
WDUN dropped Hannity a few months ago, now they have a local yokel couple.
ANYTHING was better than Hannity.
WDUN (North Atlanta) dropped Hannity a few months ago, now they have a local yokel couple.
ANYTHING was better than Hannity.
Yes, you are correct. Same poster, in fact.
Clearly, the religious implications of a change in radio station lineup are staggering.
