WHAT? LDS believe the apostle John is still alive? Where has he been hanging out?

Well, per Joe Smith, yes!

Even before Joe published the BoM, he supposedly had this "April, 1829" revelation (now recorded as Mormon "scripture" in D&C 7):

And the Lord said unto me; John, my beloved, what desirest thou? For if you shall ask what you will,it shall be granted unto you. And I said unto him: Lord, give unto me power over death, that I may live and bring souls unto thee. And the Lord said unto me: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, because thou desirest this thou shalt tarry until I come in my glory and shall prophesy before nations, kindreds, tongues and people. (D&C 7:1-3)

Now, what's "interesting" about D&C 7 is that the first three verses here are found in the 1833 Book of Commandments (predecessor to the D&C). When Smith originally wrote this out, he had just over 100 words as part of this "revelation." Well, lo & behold, D&C 7 has now crept up to over 250 words!

So, Smith takes a supposed April 1829 "revelation."
Comes up with a 100+ plus word summary for an 1833 publication.
But then when it's published again, it grew 2.5 times! Verses 6 & 7 weren't there originally. Nor were the bottom portions of vv. 1, 3, 5!
(I guess Smith had "chia pet" revelations that grew hair even back then!)
