Is there a difference between Latter Day Saints and Mormons or are they one in the same? If not the same how do their beliefs differ if any?

There are MANY groups that hold the book of MORMON to be scripure.

The BIGGEST bunch (Salt Lake City) think that only THEY should be allowed to be called MORMON (Didja ever notice BULLIES are the big ugly kid on the schoolground?).

Years ago, they BRISTLED with indignation (Hmmm... where've we seen THAT before) if called MORMON; now they embrace it.

Is this change similar to when mormans distanced Christianity and then years later decided to embrace it.
Sounds like a Romney thing.
