.....they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was TRUE.....

You know when I first began my search for God I did so by picking up the huge family Bible. I figured if I wanted to know about a person I'd read their Biography.... Not long before I was reading the ten commandments, and like we all do going over the list and checking how I might rate, looked fairly good until I read the following scripture....

...."He who is guilty of one of the least of these commandments is guilty of them all!".....

Yikes...I was in BIG trouble!.... What an eye opener that was! I closed the Bible, looked upward and said to God...."Then I am doomed and their is no hope for me"...and walked away from that moment..... Never realizing that short reading,... that seemingly simple exchange between God's word to me and my voice to Him,.... would set in motion everything which thereafter brought me to the place where I would become His and He mine......He had it All mapped out where I soon would meet the individual who would introduce me to Christ... my Savior... and my Lord.

I share this because God's word is so very powerful in ways we simply cannot grasp let alone understand fully of it's impact on our life...thru it and that of God's Spirit working on our behalf....life's are truly transformed...mine was and continues to be...There is no other book or piece of literature alone which can do that... None!... Not in the past, now, nor will there be in the future...IT STANDS ALONE ON ITS OWN just as He intended it to do... His words does not go out from Him void or empty of meaning, but accomplishes all which He sends it out to do.....each and every time. (paraphrasing a bit there)

....Therefore every piece of literature, book I might read, or speaker I might hear...if these cannot stand the test of scripture then they are indeed speaking into the wind.

Well...didn't expect to go on here as I have...but my point is we have all we NEED in Christ Jesus and in the scriptures...everything else is icing at best and toxic at worst.

I guess if one wants to buy a Ford they should go to Honda or if one wants to buy a Dell they should go to Gateway!

- - - - -

I love it when the LDS use this one...

If someone gets burned by a used car dealer, they are going to tell others.

And the problem with your analogy, Resty, is that the “Ford” dealer, is lying about Ford vehicles - saying they will never break down, get 100 miles to the gallon, never need washing...

If someone wants to know about Fords, they go to people who have owned them in the past and find out if they still own them.

Sorry but there are many things said about Reagan pro and con as being a born again and he never said it openly if he was!

- - - -
Actually, he did state many times he considered himself a born again Christian. However, he didn’t start using the term (not commonly used among Presbyterians or Disciples of Christ and especially not in that generation) until after the 1984 debates.

When I was in high school, I used to take care of one of his buddies from Eureka college and they would write back and forth even when he was president. They would also discuss their faith and heading into the sunset of their lives. I have no doubt that Reagan had a personal relationship with Christ.

BTW, Resty, just because previous generations didn’t use the term ‘born again Christian’ (which came into vogue in the 1960’s) doesn’t mean they weren’t one.

I perfer accuracy as best as ones ability and a witness from the Holy Ghost when possible.

- - — -
Then why are you LDS again?

They are neither honest or accurate in their portrayal of their history and doctrine and you can’t trust your feelings.

It isn’t the Holy Ghost you are feeling.

.all must conform to the scriptures regardless of the source of information offered or individual offering that. Be it from a church pastor, author, or writings of old, or any other source.

- - - - -
Exactly.

Mormons put their feelings first, then faith, then facts only if they fit.

They will put their feelings over the Bible every time (since they teach the Bible is full of errors).

Both of these are common characteristics of the cults.

I agree with your statement as well, but I also don’t think she has any idea who the real Christ is.

If she did, then how could she turn her back on Him in favor of Mormonism?? It makes no sense.

Very interesting read of the President of The morman church......he sounded remarkably like obama does when he is unwilling to reveal the truth....and then backtracks to cover his statements...which he then sinks deeper into his own mud.

Also interesting are Joseph Smiths ridiculous comments about who God is....evidencing once again his deep desire to be God.....Now who else did that and was thrown out of heaven?...since he can never gain that he gets great pleasure out of using men to demonstarat eo God he is still in the war.

Questioning my patriotism?

And yes I do understand that our Republic has freedom of religion. And that means freedom to SPEAK against a particular faith as well as to practice it. The freedom goes both ways.

And, yes, I WOULD (and have) asked that question of military members. Because in their dangerous profession, they NEED God and they need to be witnessed to as well.

I love this country and its freedoms (I lived behind the Iron Curtain as a child and have seen Communism and socialism first hand) and I also love that I can freely preach AGAINST mormonism.

That doesn’t change the fact that I put God first and always will.

BTW, are you aware of the Mormon teaching and goal that they will someday take over this country and place us under theocratic communism?

Mormons aren’t nearly as conservative as their PR would have you believe.

Our country should be serving God. We don’t ask God to serve our country.

Stay OFF of any jury that might select you!

- - - - -
I am never picked for jury duty. I taint too much of the jury pool during voire dire. Once, in a US District court deportation case, I had over 40 of the 60 pool agreeing with me. The judge told everyone to come back the next day - except me.

Now, being the wife of one of the few attorneys in the area, I will NEVER get picked.

And I would really like to serve, but I am not going to lie to get on a jury.

Perhaps then he at least had a small understanding where Mormons were coming from to some extent...unfortunately that would mean he saw the shroud covering only, as most only see, I wonder if he ever attended one of their churches? But even then one is only going to see the counterfeit teachings........until they’ve been there long enough to have their mind reconstructed...then it is an easy thing to push any ill conceived idea into the mind.......there’s nothing there anymore to oppose it... The blindness is completed.

I really like Resty. I think if we ever got together we would have a blast.
Cooking and laughing.........and just being friends.

- - —
I second that. I think we would get along famously IRL.

Actually we all have this up close and personal relationship with our Lord when want it....took me a little while to understand just how close He wants our relationship..... as opposed to how I thought it should be. .

- - - -
Amen. When I was LDS, I was told we needed to be all formal (KJV english in prayers, dress code, hymns) in order to be ‘respectful’.

Now there is nothing wrong with those things by themselves, but what it created (and what the stress) in Mormonism is this ‘formality of respect’ which actually can (and does) put up a wall between you and God.

Of course I respect God, but I love that I am also ‘comfortable’ with Him. That I can sing, dance, worship, talk to Him as my best friend, and rejoice that He chose me as one of His own.

If God wanted “spiritual babies” do these people not believe he could simply create them quite easily and that without any assistance whatsoever

- - - -
No they don’t. Seriously. God has to abide by ‘eternal laws’ of the Universe.

No, I am not kidding.
