Not necessarily — depends on which Protestants you’re talking about — I don’t see Gene Robinson or the European Lutherans being defrocked. And I don’t see Benny Hinn being booted out, or Joyce Meyers for her views.
As for the Lutherans...in Europe...well that's their issue for their countries and people to determine I suppose. But on the hole in the US they do have to step down...
Unfortunately once they do step down and their church does not accept their leadership back...there is no laws stopping them from opening another following and church....Jim Baker and Haggard come to mind...but they were not received back into their church.
Still its is pretty much known now the catholic church has hidden and moved around the offenders for years...it is good to see the pope and all others trying to weed this out but they have to take those priests out of the leadership entirely and better...no contact with children period.
