The official purpose of my visit to Rome was of course, the Vox Clara Committee
meeting. The Committee comprises of bishops from the English-speaking world who
have been working on this translation for eight years.
We were eleven of us in the Committee: Cardinal George Pell from Sydney,
Cardinal Murphy O'Connor from Westminster, Cardinal Francis George from Chicago,
Cardinal Justin Rigali from Philadelphia, Archbishop Oscar Lipscomb from Mobile
(USA), Archbishop Alfred Hughes from New Orleans, Archbishop Terrence
Prendergast from Ottawa, Archbishop Peter Sarpong from Ghana, Archbishop Kelvin
Felix from West Indies, Bishop Philip Boyce from Ireland and myself.

I was happy to carry back home both the new translation and the Decree
permitting us to print it. We are in the stage of working on this.
