Catholic Word of the Day: REPAIRING SCANDAL, 05-24-10
CatholicReference.net ^ | 05-24-10 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

REPAIRING SCANDAL

Making amends for sinful action that has scandalized others. A person is obliged to make reparation as far as he or she can. In some cases it would be impossible to make direct reparation to the people scandalized because they are too numerous or are unknown. Nevertheless the responsibility remains. Making reparation by good example to undo the harm caused others by scandal is a prominent feature of the Christian meaning of penance in expiation for sin.

TOPICS: Apologetics; Catholic; History; Theology
KEYWORDS: catholic; catholiclist
I think this is talking about something caused personally, rather than what many would call the scandal currently in the news about the Catholic Church priests.

No doubt, this will get a lot of replies, though.

Organizational liability doesn't die with an organization's perpetrator.

The victims live, with their scars.

Here are some articles about priests who have been falsely accused of molestation (children and adults)I’m too lazy right now to properly format them:

Sometimes, I feel quite scandalized by the Congressional and other political CINOs (Catholics in name only) who pervert the Church’s teaching or misquote Scripture to support their socialist/Marxist schemes.

Articles?

These are frequently asked questions from Catholic news sources.

I want to see hard evidence of the “inumerable” cases of false accusations against innocent Catholic clergy.

FAIL - PLEASE TRY AGAIN

No, you try again, rude boy. Only one of those sources was a FAQ.

And what if these are lying victims dredged up by ambulance-chasing attoeneys. (Many of them are!)

Again, where are the inumerable liars and falsely accused priests?

Why is the Catholic church paying out hundreds of millions in settlements?

I guess this priest’s erotic dungeon is a lie too? Wait, there’s VIDEO!

I know of several right here in my city. If that runs true then there have to be just as many according to population around the United States.

Of course, we won’t find the news stories on them. They don’t want us to know that priests were accused falsely.

In one of the trials that I know about the jury said, “Well, he’s a Catholic priest, now let’s prove him guilty.”

Which they couldn’t because there were state records to verify the priest’s testimony! (He wasn’t even with the accusers on the dates they claimed!)

Go figure. Doesn’t sound like the kind of justice you and I would be in favor of as Republicans, does it?

Contrived fantasy with zero evidence.

What is factual is that hundreds of thousands of children have been molested around the world by Catholic clergy.

Here is an interesing article on Spero News addressing your same concern: Where is justice for falsely accused priests?.

Although it would be devastating to be the victim of abuse, there are falsely accused priests having their own lives destroyed with claims made by the unscrupulous.
