My neighbor was buried today. He was a Jewish man of devout faith. Now mind you he was no saint, he had his share of issues just like anyone else. But in his later years, he became much more involved in the temple and study of the Torah. His Rabbi was at his home every other day and sometimes every day for study and company.
I looked all over for an answer to this question and I cannot find it. My friend did not accept Christ as his savior. As a Jew he did not accept Christian belief. Can anyone help me with what will happen to his soul? Will my prayer help? I have no experience with this sort of thing and I am heartbroken with the loss of this good man.
Heb 10:9 Amp says it a little differently.
“He then went on to say, Behold, [here] I am, coming to do Your will. Thus He does away with and annuls the first (former) order [as a means of expiating sin] so that He might inaugurate and establish the second (latter) order.
I read that to say that what’s being inauguarated is a “new” way of dealing with sin .. the old way of shedding the blood of goats and lambs is no longer the “order”, but the new order is through the blood of Jesus.
So again .. I cannot see within that scripture that it says the “old covenant” no longer exists, but only that the old way of the shedding of blood, has been replaced with the sacrifice of Jesus’ blood.
Myabe I’m not reading it right .. but I have it underlined and a note in my margin (from class), that it was the “order” that was taken away .. not the “old covenant”.
God promised the Jews that when the Messiah came, He would write the law on their hearts and "give them a soft heart instead of their stony one of sin".
This idea of the Messiah going to come was a big deal for the ancient Jews. They thought about it all the time.
Think of how big a deal it was for Abraham, from whose seed the Messiah would come -- think about how Abraham sacrificed this son of the Promise on the mountain top in such agony!
The ancient Jews were saved because they believed God was going to send the Messiah in the FUTURE.
This is why Paul writes about the faith of the Jewish forefathers having saving faith. They were those who Jesus tells us "who longed for this day but did not live to see it."
I'm not a big NIV fan but this is from the Old Covenant, Jeremiah 31:33:
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people."
One thing about moving back to Michigan from Texas was lots and lots of White Castles.
OTOH, there is a definite dearth of Jack in the Boxes and Whataburgers. :-(
"Please kn_ck before entering"
Not buying what? I made a joke about wondering if Jews could find a lawyer. You should actually read BEFORE you post.
Don’t forget Sammy Davis.
I believe this MAN knew the Messiah Jesus Christ upon his death, he might of not recognized the Messiah in this life because of religion and doctrine, but G-d is a G-d of Love wisdom and mercy.....This Man I believe recognized his Messiah in the Afterlife and therefore is in heaven.....
And .. quitting when one is ahead is probably the best answer.
Jesus said, “I come only for the lost sheep of the House of Israel.”
Oh Ann, your comments are about 1000 miles away from Biblical truth. Start studying the Word and stop believing the doctrines and traditions of man.
I guess that pretty much confirms what I believe.
I’m convinced God really loves the Jewish people and I just cannot wrap myself around His abandoning them.
(Luke 10:25 KJV) And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
(Luke 10:26 KJV) He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
(Luke 10:27 KJV) And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
(Luke 10:28 KJV) And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
HER IS YOUR ANSWER IN JESUS OWN WORDS. YOUR FRIEND HAS INHERITED ETERNAL LIFE.
It is also not Catholic doctrine that the Jews “do not go to heaven.”
So is taking one’s own advice. The irony of being called “ignorant” by someone who missed a lawyer joke is just more than I can take.
(Jer 31:31 KJV) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
(Jer 31:32 KJV) Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Have you heard of Howard Storm? he was a devout Atheist who had a NDE, he went to hell in his NDE but even as a devout Atheist he was..Jesus showed him his light of love meaning Jesus also shows himself to other’s in death...So yes I believe this Jewish Man knew Jesus in his death and followed him into the light of heaven.
You must think the “G-d” thing is funny.
You mock him and his people, the Jews.
All I need to say.

The MILLENIAL:
KINGDOM..Jesus Christ and his Government will rule from Jerusalem...
At this time the kingdom of God will be openly manifest worldwide affecting every sphere of life (political, social, agricultural, economic, spiritual, educational, law enforcement, family, media, arts, technology, athletics, environment, social institutions, etc.). The result will be a 1,000-year period of unprecedented blessing for the whole earth as Jesus establishes righteousness and prosperity, and restores the agriculture, atmosphere, and animal life to some of the conditions that were seen in the garden of Eden (Rev. 20:1-6; Isa. 2:1-4; 9:6-9; 11:1-16; 51:1-8; 60-62; 65:17-25; Ps. 2:6-12; 110:1-7; Deut. 8; 28; Mt. 5:5; 6:10; 17:11; 19:28; 28:19; Acts 1:6; 3:21). This period of blessing will be initiated by Jesus second coming.
Jesus as King of kings will personally govern a worldwide kingdom from Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the Throne of the LORD, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem. (Jer. 3:17)
