Haggards incorporate new church
Denver Post ^ | 5/12/2010 | Electa Draper

Ted and Gayle Haggard recently incorporated St. James Church, sited at their home on Old Ranch Road in Colorado Springs, where the couple held two overflowing prayer meetings in November.

The Haggards did not return The Post's calls, but Ted Haggard, the deposed founder of the New Life megachurch, told the Gazette newspaper on Tuesday that the incorporation of a new church on April 29 was done for accounting purposes — tracking reimbursement of travel costs as they speak at churches and other venues around the country.

What did poor St. James do to deserve that?

He also has addictions to pulpits, being in the spotlight. So much for an example to others..he didn´t do well...maybe he could align himself with Jimmy Swaggart.

People with one psychological pathology, such as homosexuality, often have others as well.

And the Lord God Almighty decreed that all secretly homosexual preachers for His (and their) pleasures go unto the whole world, preaching the Good News of rentboys and tax shelters to glorify His Name forever more. ...barf...

Regular folks would set up a category in Quickbooks, or something like that, instead of an existing-only-on-paper so called "church".

Sounds more like a tax dodge than a real church.

They returned to Colorado Springs in mid-2008.

Colorado Springs, the evangelical Constantinople.

The now-discredited, homosexual former pastor Ted Haggard is no longer "secretly" anything, with no worldwide organization running interference for him. If he's repented, had a change of heart and mind, and truly turned to the Lord, his efforts may well meet with some degree of success. If he hasn't, we'll be hearing the same, sordid story again. Sound familiar? It should.

You seem rather oddly opposed to tax minimization strategies as well, for a conservative. I'll assume you avail yourself of no such thing, and I'll assume that your church has foregone 501c3 tax exempt status in order to champion illegal immigration at the behest of your fellow believers Nancy Pelosi, Newt Gingrich and Roger Mahony, just to name a few.

We hear it every day. Only the names change.

The article indicates that he has only set up a church as a tax dodge. I am against taxation of individuals or companies of individuals or corporations anyway. Taxation of transactions, maybe, but certainly not on entities.

I'll claim them just as soon as you claim Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, David Koresh, and Jim Jones. With a side of Charles Manson.

You're cutting a pretty wide swath there, MarkBSnr. I honestly see no association between them and myself, other than a one-time profession of Christianity. They have as much in common with you as with me in that regard.

But, I'll claim them as soon as you claim Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, John F. Kerry, Dennis Kucinich, Adolph Hiter, Mussolini, John Wayne Gacy, Tomás de Torquemada, Madonna, every Italian or Sicilian mafiosi that's ever lived and gasp! Roger Ebert, lol.

Agreed. And your list contains a couple who were Catholic but renounced it. Many of the others either have privately renounced it or who wear the badge but do not practice.

Roger Ebert???? retch, retch, retch...

Not one of them was assigned to another church by the head of their denominations.
