Archbishop Naumann, Bishop Finn Lead Mother's Day Rosary at Planned Parenthood

For the third year in a row, Kansas City, Kansas Archbishop Joseph Naumann and Kansas City – St. Joseph Bishop Robert Finn joined hundreds to pray the Rosary outside the Planned Parenthood abortuary in Overland Park, Kansas. About 400 people prayed all 20 Mysteries of the Rosary led by the two bishops on May 8.

The Planned Parenthood facility is a large and busy clinic close to the border with Missouri. There are no surgical abortion clinics on the Missouri side of the Kansas City Metro.

This year, a specific prayer for the closing of the clinic was recited after the Rosary. You can pray it too:

PRAYER FOR CLOSING
PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF OVERLAND PARK, KS

Father, all life is in Your care.
You have entrusted us to one another,
that we may show our brothers and sisters
The same love You have for us.

We pray, then, for the least among us,
The children in the womb.
Protect them from the violence of abortion.
We pray for those that are scheduled to die
at Planned Parenthood in Overland Park, Kansas.
Save them from death.

Give new hope to their parents,
That they may turn away
From the desperate act of abortion.
Grant conversion to the abortionist
And to the staff.

Show us how we are to respond
To the bloodshed in our midst,
And lead us to the day when this place of death
Will be transformed into a haven of life.

Guard us with your joy and your peace.
For in you, life is victorious.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I wasn’t there Sunday but I’ve been there and prayed the rosary there with others. Looks like an office building buried in the middle of a suburban office park. No signs, no indication of what goes on there.

How many usually come to your area's PP (when the bishops aren't there to lead, or do they usually come)?

This is a picture of a few people saying the rosary at the PP in Aurora, IL. There were about 15 others (it was very cold and windy!), but I put this picture up to show the men in the bright green who are "deathcorts," making sure the woman gets to her destination "safely." They've had a couple more rosaries since this one that were better attended, but both had a priest leading. Our pastor is now the auxiliary bishop of this PP's diocese. Maybe I could put in a word, and ask him if he can lead the rosary there.

I imagine, if the crowds persist at the Kansas PP shown in your area, it will shut down eventually. That's an amazing turnout!!

I now reveal how little I pay attention to the calendar but there is a month and I don’t know whether its April or May I’m guessing May when there are people there everyday. I’ve gone twice in all these years and those times there were about 15 people... you sign up through your parish but can also just show up. Yes, the deathcorts and the people who work there and just step out to smoke think its a joke. We stood on the sidewalk by the street.
