Featured Term (selected at random):
Any view of human nature and activity that denies the objective order of reality. It takes on one of three principal forms. In philosophy, it claims that a human being can have no direct knowledge or certitude about the world outside the mind. In theology, it holds that fiath is essentially each person's own experience, and not the free assent of the mind to God's revelation. In morals, it admits no principles or norms of conduct except those created by each individual's autonomous will, which is then equated with conscience.
