Attempt to Legally Qualify Catholic Church as Criminal Organisation [Austria] (Catholic Caucus)

March 2010: Vienna-based lawyer Georg Zanger wants to sue leading members of the Catholic Church on grounds of membership in a criminal organisation (§ 278a StGB, Austrian Code of Penal Law).

Most regrettably, several members of the Catholic Church abused children in previous decades. 15 victims have now asked Vienna-based lawyer Georg Zanger to represent them legally.

According to Austrian dialy “Die Presse”, March 25th, Zanger says that if this abuse was covered up by Church officials, the entire Catholic Church could legally be qualified as a criminal organisation. The Austrian Code of Penal Law provides a prison sentence between six months and five years for members of criminal organisations.

In the heat of the debate, it is difficult to differentiate and easy to overlook that the teaching of the Catholic Church is a safeguard against child abuse. Equally, its officials are forerunners in the protection of children, families and human dignity. This has been proven true on many occasions in the moved history of civilisation. Single instances of perverse members are not representative.

Pray the Rosary — or else this will come to the U. S.

Look up the miracle of Lepanto — and pray the Rosary. Regardless of your denomination. Meditate on the life of Christ as you pray it.

Things that seem completely insane are happening before our very eyes.

Sometimes I wonder if this is how the Jews felt, in Germany, as Hitler came to power....

Luke 22:

35When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you want anything?

36But they said: Nothing. Then said he unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip; and he that hath not, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword.

37For I say to you, that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me: And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end.

38But they said: Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

First They Came for the Jews

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller

Community and individuality are not opposites. People cannot survive on their own. When the odds are stacked against you, you must rally with the oppressed and hated.

When a growing oppressive regime is taking hold, you must act, otherwise you will soon face your enemy alone and hopeless.

Strength of community is a strength as much as individualism, as long you are willing to face weaknesses in your own community. Ignoring slacking values will mean that you will be rallied against by those you oppress.

Niemöller affirms we must rally against unhealthy organized regimes. We must also stay vigilant with those that appear to be good natured, as all organisation attracts corruption. Niemöller also warns us that if it is you who are corrupt, then you will face a stronger combined force of foe!
