Pope Benedict to deliver 'intense' message during Fatima visit
EWTN News ^ | 5/5/2010

"Fatima is a particularly significant place for this Pope," said Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi on Tuesday, noting that it was also a destination for two former Popes. The Holy Father has a thorough knowledge of the history of the Marian sanctuary, he added.

Fr. Lombardi held a press conference at the Vatican to prepare the media for the Pope's next trip out of the Vatican. He will be visiting Portugal from May 11-14.

The spokesman referred to the Pope's stop in Fatima on May 13 as the highlight and "heart" of the upcoming four-day trip to Portugal, according to Vatican Radio. But, he pointed out, Benedict XVI will not be the first Pope to visit the Marian shrine.

Two other Pontiffs have been to Fatima. In 1967, the sanctuary hosted Paul VI, and John Paul II visited in 1982, 1991 and 2000, at which time the visionaries Jacinta and Francesco were beatified.

The Portuguese shrine is not unfamiliar to Pope Benedict, since as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger extensively studied the message of Fatima. Fr. Lombardi said on Tuesday that the Pope has been involved with history of the Marian sanctuary in a "very deep, personal way."

It was him, for example, who was called upon to give a theological perspective when the third secret of Fatima was made public in 2000.

The Vatican spokesman said that the Holy Father will also deliver an intense message during his Fatima visit. Upon his arrival at the sanctuary on May 12, he will remember John Paul II and the 29th anniversary of the assassination attempt that nearly took his life on May 13, 1981.

This visit marks the Holy Father's 15th Apostolic Journey abroad in his five years and is his first to Portugal as Pope.

During today's general audience, the Holy Father greeted the people of Portugal in their language, telling them that he will be there this coming weekend at the invitation of the president of the nation and the episcopal conference.

He said he was "happy to be able to visit the 'land of Holy Mary'" on the 10th anniversary of the beatification of the shepherd children.

According to Portuguese press reports, local police are planning for a cumulative total of 450,000 people at the celebrations in Lisbon, Fatima and Portugal during the four-day visit.

“Protest-ant theology is completely man made and denies the entire authority of Apostolic Tradition.”

Ridiculous. “Apostolic Tradition” is a tradition of man. It isn’t anywhere in Scripture. So either you are being facetious here or I better build an ark to escape your world wide flood of irony.

“...BEFORE the writing of the Gospels...”

These were found written LONG before the Vatican decided to change the names of their pagan gods to Christian ones.

“...devoid of altars, putting in their place pulpits so as to supplant worship and the primacy of the presence of Christ with sermons...”

The Word outlines how to worship and what it says is more akin to having sermons than anything out of the Vatican. The “presence”, if you mean the transmogrification, is nowhere in scripture. Neither is setting up an altar for the worship of Christ. Altars and the ‘presence’ are a doctrine of man or demon from the Vatican.

“Why do you believe that Protestant Churches deny the presence of Christ in the Eucharist putting in its place the words of men?”

The “eucharist” stuff is right out because it is NO WHERE in scripture. It is also a magical ceremony and God said very clearly not to perform sorcery. This is all simply works of man and demon from the Vatican.

“...prowl the Catholic topic threads...”

Stop posting threads filled with idolatry and blasphemy and Christians will stop coming on them and mentioning that they are idolatrous and blasphemous.

“...Christ’s own Church...”

Christ founded the Body of Christ made up of all Christians. The teachings of the Vatican are not Christian.

“...guided to these threads by the Holy Spirit so that you can know the truth denied you...”

The Holy Spirit does not guide people into idolatry and blasphemy and that is all that exists in the Vatican edifice.

Mary is not the mother of the Body of Christ.

Just wow. How can that be?

Those who follow and obey the teachings of the Vatican are not Christian.

So, you believe that devout Catholics who adhere to the Catechism of the Catholic Church ARE NOT Christians -- Is this what you believe? YES or NO.

And you still haven't answered about whether or not you think Catholics should be allowed to post on FR.

““Our holy father Dominic ... pray for us.””

If he is a Christian and you are a Christian there is nothing wrong with *asking* him to pray for you.

But *praying* to him to pray for you is idolatry.

To ask someone something they have to either be in your presence, or written to by letter or computer, or called on the phone. If they are dead or in another country, and you are talking or whispering under your breath to them then that is praying to them.

Also, it is utterly blasphemous to use the title “holy father” on a fellow sin-filled fallen human created being. That title belongs to the Almighty alone. He even said this clearly in His Word.

You would have to have gone through the military, been the best of the best, and passed all the entry tests into NASA.

No problem with everything but the height test. I am about a foot too tall.

Shall I sit out on the deck tonight and look for the mother ship? If I see it, I'll Freepmail you. That is, unless you are already aware of its position.

Those who follow and obey the teachings of the Vatican are not Christian.

Since we got the teachings directly from Christ Himself, it's obvious that your statement is completely devoid of any truth whatsoever.

“Then why have so many on this thread denied that the Mother of God appeared to three children at Fatima?”

Because she didn’t. The apparition was from Satan. Besides, as has been said many many times: Mary is dead, the resurrection didn’t happen yet, she was not assumed into heaven, she does not hold any special titles or authority in heaven, and the teachings of the Vatican on Mary are idolatry and blasphemy. As such, if the apparition is confirming all this antichristian stuff, then it is from the antichrist.

“Where are UFOs discussed in the Bible?”

The Bible talks of signs and wonders in the sky. It also describes many visions of things that can only be labeled as unidentified flying objects by those that don’t know what they are.

“You have yet to demonstrate that I word of what I’ve written is false.”

See above.

Why is it that you have an anniversary date of 2006 on your FReeperpage but have no posting history before this thread?

Sockpuppet much?

“Apostolic Tradition” is a tradition of man. It isn’t anywhere in Scripture.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle. (2 Thessalonians 2:14)

These were found written LONG before the Vatican decided to change the names of their pagan gods to Christian ones.

Which "pagan gods" are you referring to? Catholics believe in the Holy Trinity of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, we believe in ONE GOD.

The Word outlines how to worship and what it says is more akin to having sermons than anything out of the Vatican.

Nothing about sermons here:

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor the church of God. 17 Now this I ordain: not praising you, that you come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For first of all I hear that when you come together in the church, there are schisms among you; and in part I believe it. 19 For there must be also heresies: that they also, who are approved, may be made manifest among you. 20 When you come therefore together into one place, it is not now to eat the Lord's supper.

21 For every one taketh before his own supper to eat. And one indeed is hungry and another is drunk. 22 What, have you not houses to eat and to drink in? Or despise ye the church of God; and put them to shame that have not? What shall I say to you? Do I praise you? In this I praise you not. 23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread. 24 And giving thanks, broke, and said: Take ye, and eat: this is my body, which shall be delivered for you: this do for the commemoration of me. 25 In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me.

26 For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall shew the death of the Lord, until he come. 27 Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of the chalice. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. 30 Therefore are there many infirm and weak among you, and many sleep.

31 But if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But whilst we are judged, we are chastised by the Lord, that we be not condemned with this world. 33 Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 If any man be hungry, let him eat at home; that you come not together unto judgment. And the rest I will set in order, when I come.
-- 1 Corinthians 11:16-34

The “presence”, if you mean the transmogrification, is nowhere in scripture.

Well, then it's a good thing that "transmogrification" isn't part of the Mass.

The “eucharist” stuff is right out because it is NO WHERE in scripture.

Read what I posted above.

Stop posting threads filled with idolatry and blasphemy and Christians will stop coming on them and mentioning that they are idolatrous and blasphemous.

So, you DO want Catholics to stop posting here?

“If you could summon up a large enough mother ship, you could save the world.”

Is that what you said to your mother when she landed to drop you off here on Earth?

Incidentally, don’t be so hard on yourself. One of you is more than enough. Though by, “save the world” did you mean you wanted her to bring you more siblings so you wouldn’t be so lonely?

If so, please don’t be sad. I kind of feel bad for you now. Listen, if you turn away from antichristian things I’ll be your friend. What do you say?

Do you DENY that there is Eternal Life with Him in Heaven? How sad for you.

As such, if the apparition is confirming all this antichristian stuff, then it is from the antichrist.

Confirming what exactly? By your explanation ANY appearance after the Resurrection is anti-Christian, that would mean the Pentecost, Paul's conversion, the Revelation of Saint John, etc.

The Bible talks of signs and wonders in the sky. It also describes many visions of things that can only be labeled as unidentified flying objects by those that don’t know what they are.

I asked for citations, not your opinion.
