**The Mass is also a memorial. **

Following the instructions of Christ: "Do this in remembrance of me."

In case some people missed this important line:

The Mass cannot be understood apart from Calvary, of which it is a re-presentation, memorial, and effective application of the merits gained by Christ.

“The priest is indispensable, since he alone by his powers can change the elements of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ.”

To those of you who are fond of LOL’s, this statement would be the place for one, except for the fact that this LIE is the means of bondage to millions of the “faithful”ly deceived around the world.

Salvation's post: “The priest is indispensable, since he alone by his powers can change the elements of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ.”

As Paul says, "I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them." Paul warned them for a full three years that this would happen...and it did! Check history and one will see that many of the influential leaders of the second and third century started to draw followers to themselves - all said they were "catholic" Christians, but none of them at that time were under the tutulage of a papacy! Deception started among the faithful! This is not a laughing matter; sadness describes it more.

So “Salvation,” I propose a test based on your assertion that the real, literal, type AB, blood of Christ is in every Mass. Let’s do a blood test on the wine from a daily mass, after consecrated by a priest, and see if it is 1) human blood, and 2) type AB.

If just the first is demonstrated, I will no longer challenge your belief that Jesus is re-sacrificed, anti-biblically, in your masses.

If not, you will be willing to examine other views held by sincere Christians.

Deal?

You are wasting your time. Their "priests" spend years studying how to say the magesterical words that changes the wafer and wine into the blood of Jesus - one reason! The next one is that the "priest" is not just a "priest", but that it is Christ that is doing the miracle in the mass. This is how deception works - repeat the lie so much that even the elect will start to believe it!

Test it in my mouth and you would find AB negative blood. That’s my blood type. LOL!

Agreed, there are many sincere Catholics who are deceived by the lies they have been taught (as are SOME of their “teachers”).

But perhaps God will be merciful to some of them and show them the light before their hearts are completely hardened, as He did to me.

However, I think there have been enough LOL’s in this series of postings, made by Catholics who couldn’t defend their doctrines against biblical truth, and it is time for me to move on to hearts/minds more receptive to that truth.

Blessings in Christ!

Keep laughing (out loud). It seems that’s what you are best at when confronted with truth you cannot stomach, and do not wish to address.

That has been my hope ever since I came of that sect of Christianity. My whole life changed, all to the better. Now that I'm retired, I have more time to spread the truth of Christ and what He did for us - and what is to come when Jesus returns to re-create us at the resurrection.

I find that a one-on-one evangelistic effort to spread the true Gospel has had (and will have) much more results than the exercise one gets on threads such as this one. Most people that I run across are very receptive of what the Gospel really says in contrast to what is said by the teachers in various sects of Christianity, including Roman Catholic adherents who are confused with their church's doctrines and dogmas. Over half of the members of the church I affiliate with were at one time Catholic. It is very interesting to find out why they left that sect, all to the praise of God.

Yes, maybe it is time to move on...:-)

this LIE [indispensability of a priest]

From the scripture, I read that Christ offered a Mass (Mt 26, Mark 14, Lk 22) and I read that He told the Twelve to do it (Lk 22). I also read that He sent the Apostles as Himself (Jn 13:20, 20:21). Finally, I read that the Apostles in turn consecrated others (Acts 8:18, 1 Tim 4:14, 1 Timothy 1:6, Hebrews 6:20). Further, the bishops were warned by St. Paul to be selective in whom they consecrate (1 Timothy 5:22).

Nowhere do I read that the priestly powers were given wholesale to everyone.

So who is lying about the scripture?

The physical properties of wine and bread do not change. The substance changes.

I was commenting more on the “powers” of the priest to create Jesus’ presence in the Mass. You Catholics would be in deep do-do without a physically present ordained man to re-create Christ for you over and over so you can be saved.

You posted: “The physical properties of wine and bread do not change. The substance changes.”

So what is the substance of wine and bread if not its physical properties? Another nonsense statement.
