Direct TV, that would make sense. I googled it and couldn’t find anything.

Perhaps: Dirty Rotten Trash Talking Vapidness?

I didn’t think of the ‘persecution’ angle.

I love when the LDS pull the “all faiths have some truth” ploy. YEAH, Right! If they did then there wouldn’t have been a need for a ‘restoration’, just another ‘reformation’.

As stated that many converts also bring with them bagage

Resty, WHY are you using the JoD as a source? I thought that wasn’t doctrine?

Honey, it wasn’t the lowly european converts it was JOSEPH SMITH and your other leaders. So, it is disingenous at best to say that the LDS dissing of the Catholic church is ‘old folk lore’.

Your church was built upon trashing Christianity and Micheal Ash’s spin is NOT LDS doctrine nor is it what has been taught for the last 150+ years.

Oh please stop I heard those folk lores about the Catholic church floating around when I was in the mainstream religion for 30 years!

A few mainstreamer were using a book called the Two Babylon against the Catholics even here on RF in the early 2000’s

“WHY are you using the JoD as a source? I thought that wasn’t doctrine?”

I am not using as doctrine just to show some still held on to views after all those were converts from the mainstream faith and one don’t lose their bagage over night it is a work in progress!

What point are you trying to make Resty, can you at least attempt to give us that in a clear fashion?

As I’ve noted in other writings, the Church was not restored in a cultural vacuum. ~ As I’ve noted in other writings, the Church was not restored in a cultural vacuum.

So, your apostles are folklorists? Here you go...

“Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the “whore of Babylon” whom the Lord denounces... as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. And any person who shall be so wicked as to receive a holy ordinance of the gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent of the unholy and impious act. If any penitent believer desires to obtain forgiveness of sins through baptism, let him beware of having any thing to do with the churches of apostate Christendom, lest he perish in the awful plagues and judgments, denounced against them. The only persons among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people who have authority from Jesus Christ to administer any gospel ordinance are those called and authorized among the Latter-day Saints. Before the restoration of the church of Christ to the earth in the year 1830, there have been no people on the earth for many generations possessing authority from God to minister gospel ordinances. We again repeat. Beware of the hypocritical false teachers and imposters of Babylon!
- Apostle Orson Pratt The Seer, Vol.2, No.4, p.255

“She is termed, in other places, by the same prophet, “The whore of all the earth,” making the nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Some three centuries ago there came out sortie excellent men, named Martin Lather, John Calvin and many others that might be mentioned, who protested against the wickedness and abominations of the Church wherein they had been educated, and of which they had been members. Because of their protestations against the mother Church they were called Protestants. They pronounced her the whore of all the earth; they declared that she had no authority, that she had none of the blessings and gifts which characterized the ancient Christians. They came out and established other Churches... But among all these Churches where are the characteristics of Zion? We hunt for them in vain.”
- Apostle Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses Vol. 14, p.346

They obeyed God to the best of their ability, when they lived up to the measure of truth He gave unto them. But the Lord in this day hath spoken unto the people and commanded that they should obey the fullness of the everlasting gospel. (Charles A. Callis., Conference Report [April 1909], 19.)

So did Charles Callis have lots of wives ???

Was he living the restored “new and everlasting covenant” of polygamy in 1909 ???
