Nifonging the Catholic Church
me ^ | April 18, 2010 | vanity

Posted on 04/18/2010 9:49:35 PM PDT by Judith Anne

I seriously wonder about some FReepers, sometimes. Any other person accused of a crime would be defended by every FReeper as being innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. I've seen whole threads written by men who have been accused of child abuse by ex-wives out to deny them their visitation rights or to wrest more money out of them. These men are rightly indignant, and furious about the unjust accusations that cannot be proven but are never withdrawn.

Yet where are those FReepers when a PRIEST is accused? Where is the presumption of innocence? Suddenly, every accusation becomes a verdict, and not only the accused but his entire organization and all its adherents are held responsible.

I can only wonder what some of these so-called conservatives (who so faithfully defend the Constitution) would do, if THEY were the ones accused! It is a nightmare for any man -- all of you know how even the accusation stains the man forever, even if it is proven false!

Not only that, many here assert that the problems of 30, 40 and even 50 years ago must be tried in the media TODAY!

Remember the Duke rape case? There are more similarities than differences here. The priests are accused, nifonged, and instead of being defended, they are vilified!

What other man of you could stand under the weight of such an accusation trumpeted by the press, and come out whole? None! And such accusations made, LONG after the statute of limitations has passed, sometimes even after the accused is dead and buried for YEARS -- are YOU one of those who automatically, reflexively, spitefully, and gleefully act as judge, jury, and executioner?

Women! What if it were YOUR HUSBAND, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR FATHER, YOUR UNCLE, YOUR SON who was accused? Wouldn't you want the best defense possible? Wouldn't YOU believe in their innocence? Wouldn't YOU help protect your loved ones as much as possible? And yet, YOU JUDGE THE CHURCH FOR DOING WHAT YOU WOULD DO?

Shame! Vast shame! On all who have sinned against the innocent!

INDEED.

I think one of the most heretical, blasphemous, idolatrous aspects of all the Marian junk . . .

is

that GOD ALMIGHTY MADE/MAKES IT VERY VERY PLAIN

in Scripture—HIS LIVING WORD

that

WE ARE TO LEAN ON HIM AND HIM ALONE.

All the more so in any signficant spiritual, eternal, ultimate sense.

And satan has very seductively facilitated the

Vatican INSTITUTION in substituting all manner of hideous junk to lean on INSTEAD OF ON GOD.

. . . including all the horrid stuff in behalf of the Mary caricature personage that the authentic Mary herself must be grieved to the max over, if she’s aware of it at all.

"The whole Mary worship doctrine is totally unsupported by any teaching in the Bible."

This just in......Mary is still not dead!

That’s some of the grossest misapplication of Scriptural to support a non-Scripture doctrine that I have ever seen.

Which means nothing coming out of your mouth! What I posted is supported by 2000 years of constant Christian writings including from Saints who decided Bible canon.

Try measuring your beliefs on this topic with consistent Christian writing throughout the ages? The only ones that agree with you are heretics like Nestrious, the manacheans and others.

It would do you well to study Christian history with an open heart without bigoted blindfolds-This requires humility ,dear friend

I wish you a peaceful day!

Truly, I believe it was a spiritual defeat for both the plaintiffs and the Catholic Church that the priest molestation cases ended up in civil courts. It should never have been necessary.

Yes, well. I am sure you do not hold the majority opinion, here. I do believe there are a number here who want to see any priest ACCUSED of molestation in jail for life, or dead. I don't hear a lot of cries that the rule of law be followed, or the rules of evidence, either, or that any accused priest be allowed to defend himself.

NATURAL LAW: I believe it is the coveting, which I have often referred to as Crosier Envy...

Ah, again the descent into the gutter by the Roman Catholic apologist. We haven't forgotten what you mean by that phrase, Natural Law, since we recall with not a little disgust your definition of "Crosier Envy"...

From another thread, POST 38 by Natural Law...

Nothing elfish about it. Crosier Envy, akin to Penis Envy, is a mental disorder among the lesser denominations in which, when they realize that their clergy lacks the stature and spiritual integtity of the Catholic Bishops, results in feelings of inferiority and psychic conflict. Illogical lashing out, defaming and confabulation are common symptoms. You got it bad.

Maybe this peculiar fixation is fueled by the fact the papacy's "alter Christus" are likewise preoccupied. Or perhaps its payback for all the attention female idols receive in the RCC.

AMEN. How difficult, really, is that to comprehend?

Nobody said it would be easy, but then again, following God’s will is never easy.

Don’t you recall Christ’s words on the cross after torturing Him almost to death?

Well, for a church that claims fidelity to Scripture, they need to do a little more teaching on the forgiveness aspect. Most of the FRoman Catholics here are a little weak in that area, based on their attitudes and words towards those who they disagree with.

Haven’t you gotten the message in the Lord’s Prayer that you guys recite as part of the Rosary?

For the record, I oppose any keeping molestation secret. Yes, the church, any church, needs to deal with it in whatever way they deem is Scriptural, but I also strongly believe that civil authorities ought to be contacted and the perpetrator deal with the legal consequences of breaking the law.

Otherwise, keeping it secret is becoming culpable in the sin.

Luke 23:32 Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. 33 And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. 35And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” 36The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine 37and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.”

It is UNDERSTANDABLE when we act out of our flesh instead of our spirit submitted to Holy Spirit.

HOWEVER, IT IS NOT CHRISTIAN AND IT IS DEADLY.

CHRIST REQUIRES—NO OPTION—REQUIRES US TO BE BROKEN BREAD AND POURED OUT WINE

SOMETIMES MUCH AS HE WAS

TO THOSE HE BRINGS INTO OUR LIVES.

NO OPTION FOR THE BELIEVERS.

Yes, I’ve been responsible for counseling such children. They were Christians. They chose to forgive. One struggled with it more than the others. Praise God they overcame.

I think you forget that FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE AND IN GOD’S ECONOMY—FORGIVENESS, SPIRITUALLY, IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR THE FORGIVER THAN THE FORGIVEN.

Sometimes, Judith, you really concern me about the quality of your relationship with God.

CHRIST FORGAVE HIS CRUCIFIERS.

HE calls us to die daily to our flesh . . . to crucify the flesh daily.

Whether we, in fact, do or don’t is our choice. And that action dictates the level and quality of our relationship WITH HIM—OF OUR CHRISTIANITY—WHETHER IT IS AUTHENTIC OR FARCICAL.

The church isn’t what makes one Christian.

It’s CHRIST. That’s why people are called Christians, not churchians.

I couldn’t care less what church one attends other than the fact that it teaches Scriptural truth. The denomination and membership are totally unrelated to one’s salvation because it is CHRIST who saves.

My “demand” is a straightforward application of, obedience to a very straightforward Scripture.

Scripture does not provide for an “out.”

Your argument is not with me, but with God.

"Ah, again the descent into the gutter by the Roman Catholic apologist..."

Perhaps this forum should be limited to educated adults. A crosier is a ceremonial shepherds crook carried by a Catholic Bishop as a symbol of his office. The envy, like other related psychological pathologies is the cause of feelings of inferiority and psychic conflict. (To use a pun; no apologies needed or intended)

Catholic writings, not *Christian* writings.

They are not interchangeable terms.

Therefore, there is no denial involved.

My relationship with God is honest. I don't lie, I don't pretend, I don't make nice for others' approval.

I think it is sick and twisted to demand that a child forgive his/her abuser. If a child grows into an adult who can fully understand what s/he is doing, fine. But it is further abusing the child to demand that the child forgive.

So we have Paul correcting Peter, but Peter never correcting Paul.

Yet RCC apologists diminish Paul, calling him a Gnostic and anti-Trinitarian, while at the same time elevating Peter to unBiblical proportions, misidentifying him "the rock" when Scripture tells us the Lord, Jesus Christ, and His teachings are now and always have been "the only rock."

Got it.
