I was referring to the one fact of Gutenburg’s being a Catholic, which is supported, I see, by general sources on his life.

Johannes Gutenberg died in 1468. The so-called "Reformation" famously began in 1517. Gutenberg died 15 years before Luther was born.
Saying that Gutenberg was not a Protestant is about as historically controversial as saying that Rita Hayworth was not a Spice Girl.
