Kevin Knight over at New Advent has a New Advent Exclusive up. It's a big picture of His Lordship with a link to the San Antonio Archdiocesan website.
The prodigious announcement of the new Archbishop of Los Angeles who will be Archbishop Gomez, could be made as soon as tomorrow according to Rocco at Whispers in the Loggia. There will be a press conference tomorrow at 10am.
We hope that the change will take place before Cardinal wreckovates St. Charles Boromeo Cathedral.

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD
The long diocesan nightmare is over.
Mahony has caused irreparable damage to the Catholic Church in Los Angeles. JPII’s biggest mistake ever!
Blessed be the Saints, can this be true?
any background on Gomez?
He’s weak on liturgical discipline. Tolerates some of the worst abuses I’ve witnessed.
He’s a winner: relatively young (58 years old, I think) and strictly orthodox. He was Chaput’s protégé in Denver and is said to be tight with Opus Dei. This is definitely good news — and, Lord, we could use some about now!
Show me a bishop that doesn’t.
Maphoney might leave without handcuffs.
the RCC should NOT have protected that fool.
John Paul didn’t CHOSE the guy. He only ratified a bad choice made by his guy in DC. (Jardot, who stuck us with a lot of liberals)
Sadly, the Pope is given the authority, whether he uses it or not. And he ultimately has no one else to blame. Remember to pray for Pope John Paul II.
Jardot was Paul VI’s appointee, and the new pope was in no position to override the choice and Jardot and of the bishops who promoted Mahoney.
No time was spared on Cardinal Mahony and Gomez is an excellent fit -— born in Mexico and Opus Dei.
Blessings!!
Pray for Arch-bishop Gomez that the harm is not irreparable. He certainly has his work ahead of him.
Whoohooo! Don’t know anything about the guy, but he’s better than Mahoney......
IT IS A MOST BEAUTIFUL PARISH. IT SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED IN THE SLIGHTEST!!!
I live 2 hours away, but attended the St Charles Booromeo, recently, on March 21st. A high Mass. Gorgeous.
Wonderful Priests; full quality.
PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THAT CHURCH WITH ANY WRECKOVATION! FOR 20 YEARS IT HAS BEEN A FAVORITY CHURCH OF MINE......AND SO MANY OTHERS. (Sorry for the yelling..........)
This is some excellent news indeed....
