Whether He left something behind or not is open to speculation.

Read verses 5 and 7 in the 20th chapter of the Gospel of John, there is NO DOUBT that He left the linen behind.

And just one other thought, IF it is His image on the Shroud of Turin, He put it there and if He put it there He did it for a REASON, it would not have been a mistake.

Interesting take on the verses, thank you. I always thought it meant that He was not there so they believed. I never thought about them seeing the image on the linen.
And of course, I agree, if His image is on the shroud it was intentional.
