My dear anti-mormonism friends,

I can tell that for some reason the existence of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the doctrines the church teaches upset you very much.

I wonder why it has to be this way. If you don’t agree with Mormonism, why not just ignore it and let its members choose to practice and believe as they wish? I think that would make life more pleasant for everyone involved

Remember the advice of Gamaliel in the New Testament when the Sanhedrin was considering what to do with Peter and the other apostles who had been arrested:

Acts 5:34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

And have others lost to a cult that only leads them astray???? Nah, don't think so.

If MORMONism is 'really' the answer, then why even worry what a handfull of ANTIs are doing on the Internet?

SURELY the 'truthfulness' of MORMONism will prevail!

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 129

Instructions given by Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, February 9, 1843, making known three grand keys by which the correct nature of ministering angels and spirits may be distinguished. HC 5: 267.
1–3, There are both resurrected and spirit bodies in heaven; 4–9, Keys are given whereby messengers from beyond the veil may be identified.

1 There are two kinds of beings in aheaven, namely: bAngels, who are cresurrected personages, having dbodies of flesh and bones—
2 For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not aflesh and bones, as ye see me have.
3 Secondly: the aspirits of bjust men made cperfect, they who are not resurrected, but inherit the same glory.
4 When a messenger comes saying he has a message from God, offer him your hand and request him to shake hands with you.
5 If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand.
6 If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear—
7 Ask him to shake hands with you, but he will not move, because it is contrary to the aorder of heaven for a just man to bdeceive; but he will still deliver his message.
8 If it be the adevil as an angel of light, when you ask him to shake hands he will offer you his hand, and you will not bfeel anything; you may therefore detect him.
9 These are three grand akeys whereby you may know whether any administration is from God.

(Norm, why don't you ask the 53,000 current Lds missionaries that if they "don't agree with" the 98% of religious beliefs of doorbells they ring, why not "just ignore" them and let those households "choose to practice and believe as they wish"???)

What? Never crossed your mind? (We thought not)

I got mixed into this thread thinking it was an LDS attack on the RCC. Although I believe that the RCC represents the actual church founded by Jesus, other peoples’ beliefs are between them and God. Just be a good neighbor and a good citizen and we won’t have any problems.

Plus any religion than can have a univeristy for which Jimmer Fredette plays can’t be all bad.

Well to begin with the LDS tell slanderous lies about the nature and mission of one of my most beloved family members and friends.

Not even the Muslims do that and very few other cults or “religions” do it and none to the degree and scale of the LDS.

I think that should be enough right there...

Thank you Normandy,
The reason that we talk to our mormon friends is because the conscience is eternal.

For SOME REASON??!?!? You can’t think why heretical doctrines claiming to be Christian and leading people down a false path would upset us?? Seriously?

Say you bought a car from a dealer, the dealer promises you that the car is new, in perfect condition, never been in an accident, all checked out, full warranty. You pay A LOT of money for this car.

Shortly after buying the car, it breaks down, the engine is shot, the fluid leaks, the radio quits working, and the transmission slips. You go back to the dealer and he just shrugs and says “it’s your problem now”. You do research and found out the car was totaled. There is no warranty and nothing you can do to get your money back.

How would you feel? Would you warn others about this crooked dealer? Of course.

That is all we are doing. We are warning others about the LDS church.

As long as the LDS want to be considered Christians, then their history/doctrines are up for the same scrutiny as anyone else.

Fish or cut bait. Either be ready to defend you history and doctrines or don’t claim to be Christian. It is simple. But I will not stand by and let a group that claims I am an apostate insult my Savior and my God without a fight. Ain’t happening.
