Nothing less than a complete apostasy from the Christian religion would warrant the establishment of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.History of the Church, Volume 1, p. XL
According to LDS Scripture, the Apostle John (D&C 7) and the three Nephites (3 Nephi 28) never died. So, how could Gospel authority have left the earth, needing restoration?
in the latter times some shall depart from the faith 1 Timothy 4:1
If only some would depart from the faith, how could a complete apostasy have occurred? Did Jesus fail to preserve His Church against the gates of hell?
I will build MY church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18
...that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once [for all time] delivered unto the saints. Jude 3
...but though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:9
Once the Bible was printed, does anyone actually believe that communication between the Almighty and his children would have stopped?
Yes = no additions to the bible
No = additions to a continuing bible

You start out with a false premise. It is not an either/or God can (and does) speak to us through the Bible without the need for additions to it.
Just because they are not suggestions does not mean we have to work for our salvation. And being saved by Grace does not give us license to sin either.
The various Bible translations all say the same thing. So that is a non issue.
The LDS church is ALL about money, that is obvious. Their claim to a ‘restoration’ is because they think they are the ONLY ‘true’ Christians and the rest of us are ‘apostates’.
Are you LDS?
I will keep dreaming and praying that one day you will find the True Measure of Christ Jesus.

Amen, prayer here to for that.
We are all spiritual lawbreakers and we all have to live on pardons. We don't earn forgiveness, it's given freely to us. Our works are not to earn our salvation, but are an expression of gratitude to God for what He has done for us.
God would not be known as a God of mercy if He did not pardon us but we had to earn our salvation. If we earned our salvation, it wouldn't be forgiveness and mercy. It would be what we were owed.
It does not denigrate our good deeds. On the contrary, God will reward them. But they do not earn our salvation any more than a child needs to earn his place in his family.
And that is a change the LDS has really worked on in the last 20 years. The problem I have is with people who claim to be Christians but create their own Christ rather than worship the Christ of the Bible.
I’m sorry but the LDS Christ is not the Christian Christ and by insisting they be called Christians, the LDS insult Christ.
It is like Mulims wanting to be called Jews.
pout...
I view mine as MORE inspired!
At least when I use Scripture it hasn't been modified.
THE BOOK OF JACOB
THE BROTHER OF NEPHICHAPTER 224 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.
25 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.
26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.
27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.
31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the sorrow, and heard the mourning of the daughters of my people in the land of Jerusalem, yea, and in all the lands of my people, because of the wickedness and abominations of their husbands.
32 And I will not suffer, saith the Lord of Hosts, that the cries of the fair daughters of this people, which I have led out of the land of Jerusalem, shall come up unto me against the men of my people, saith the Lord of Hosts.
Or even HERE:
1 Timothy 3:2-3
2. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
3. not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.1 Timothy 3:12
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTSSECTION 1325157, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
Get real and stay still!
Your obession with this topic leads me to beleive that you are just jealous!
But than you it shows you are a DOM
huh? That doesn’t make sense.
C’mon Resty, rest in the Joy of the Lord and get off that hamster wheel! Jesus is waiting for you!
Got a promotion, did ya? ;) Not surprising. You have the credentials, IMO.
Do you mean that you don't agree that baptism is for the living and not for the dead? Does that mean that you don't believe that Jesus is God, but a brother to Lucifer?..or that you don't agree that the Atonement of Christ took part on the Cross, and not in the Garden or a combination of the two?... if they want to come and learn more about Mormonism I would welcome them and encourage them to do so..does that mean that you would encourage them to learn what the early leaders said and did and encourage the reading of the Journal of Discourses..? Or that you would describe the temple ceremony to a temple recommend holder on the eve of his/her entering and taking part in temple rituals?
These "modes of worship" that you DO agree with and the lessons about mormon doctrine that mormons feel of importance to teach are a very large component of what makes mormonism unpalatable in the eyes of those who mormons demand to join. Again, I say...Christians are Christian, mormons are mormon.
Hi greyfox,
I am a believing member of the LDS Church — and yes, I believe in the practices and doctrines of the church. This means there will be practices and doctrines of other churches and faiths that I don’t subscribe to.
I’m not upset that others believe differently to me, and wish everyone well.
I’m not even upset that some don’t consider Mormons Christians - however I will state without equivocation that I am absolutely firm in my belief and testimony that Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the same Jesus whose life and teachings are recorded in the New Testament, is God’s Holy Son, the Savior and Redeemer of the world and the only name given under heaven whereby we can be saved.
That’s the belief and testimony of believing Latter-day Saints everywhere from the days of Joseph Smith until now — and that will not change.
Best regards,
Normandy
WHAT? No mention of the necessary temple ordinances and the degrees of glory that are NOT in the presence of the Father and the Son?
ROTFL!
Oh, yeah..and not only that, THEIR "authority" is better than YOUR authority, 'cause your authority was erased whe the gospel was taken from earth and
The power of godliness was restored to the earth in 1829, when Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery received the priesthood by the hands of heavenly messengers. John the Baptist, the last legitimate holder of the Aaronic, or lesser priesthood, conferred it on Joseph and Oliver on May 15, 1829, on the banks of the Susquehannah River in upper Pennsylvania. Later, the two men received the Melchizedek, or higher priesthood by ordination from Peter, James, and John, the last legitimate holders of the keys of that priesthood. In this way, the power of godliness, or the power to come back into the presence of God, was restored to the earth
So there! ;)
Way down upon the Sus...que...han...na
Far, far away
;)
Im not even upset that some dont consider Mormons Christians - however I will state without equivocation that I am absolutely firm in my belief and testimony that Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the same Jesus whose life and teachings are recorded in the New Testament, is Gods Holy Son, the Savior and Redeemer of the world and the only name given under heaven whereby we can be saved.

The problem is that statements like this sound Christian but the words mean different things in the LDS (saved, atonement, redeemer, etc). And it also leaves out the absolute need for membership in the Mormon Church. To me that is deceptive.
WhatEVER would make you think I'm a
Dumb
Old
Mormon??
