WAS A “RESTORATION” OF THE GOSPEL NECESSARY?
mormon.org ^ | 2009 | mormon.org

Posted on 03/19/2010 8:59:34 AM PDT by svcw

“Nothing less than a complete apostasy from the Christian religion would warrant the establishment of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”—History of the Church, Volume 1, p. XL

According to LDS Scripture, the Apostle John (D&C 7) and the three Nephites (3 Nephi 28) never died. So, how could Gospel “authority” have left the earth, needing “restoration”?

“…in the latter times some shall depart from the faith…”—1 Timothy 4:1

If only “some” would depart from the faith, how could a “complete apostasy” have occurred? Did Jesus fail to preserve His Church against the gates of hell?

“I will build MY church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” —Matthew 16:18

“...that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once [for all time] delivered unto the saints.” —Jude 3

“...but though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” —Galatians 1:9

It is good that you said that the world has feels it can change the Lord’s ordinance but those who follow the true principles of the Lord’s Gospel knows that Lord is the same

Hebrew 13

8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

There is order in the house of the Lord ordinance don’t change at a whim like the tradition of men who do not adhere to the principles of the Lord Gospel!

Hebrew 13: 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

We Chri8stians use this verse a lot ...

It means that the poster believes that Jesus is God...

Jesus is the Word of God, the Second Person of the Trinity..

and Jesus has never changed...

and Jesus always was God ...

and that Jesus never lost His Church...

and the Church never needed to be restored...

and that Joey Smith was an occultist, adulterer, and fraud...

and got the death he rightfully deserved ...

Thats why Resty posted this verse...

Hi Greyfox

I am completely happy to let people worship as they please. That’s one of the great things about a free country. People can believe and worship in peace however they choose — so long as they don’t infringe on the rights of others.

Now that doesn’t mean I will agree with all the modes of faith and worship that others may have, and if they want to come and learn more about Mormonism I would welcome them and encourage them to do so.

That’s what freedom of conscience is all about in my mind. No compulsion - and freedom to discuss and share beliefs.

Best,

N

Who Resty ???

Resty has been posting “the enemy’s creeds” for a while...

She posts the cut and paste scriptures of the Christian Bible not knowing what they mean any more than the dumbies at FAIR or FARM or LDS .org know...

That mormon pesthood thingy doesnt reach to the Christian God and His Word...

The mormons barely know what joey Smith said...

there are so many spins on the book of mormon over the years ...

that mormomnism doesnt look the same as it did when Joey Smith first invented it...

If Joey smith came back today...

the mormons of Utah would arrest him and put him in jail...

Oh Woe to the man etc...

“The only ‘restoration’ coming is the removal of all filtration systems installed over time to ‘control’ for power the WORD of God.”

Every religous system is a system of men, or man. That includes all systems included under the ‘Christian’ umbrella. Every one of these systems was devised to in some way be controlling. All of these systems are crumbling, as God moves to remove the filtrations systems and the men controlling, to make way for His government, in the churches, economy, political systems. There are no exceptions!

It is time for us to observe, be ready, and praise Him!

Assumed you were following along. You could scroll back but I can summarize real quickly for ya. It was said earlier that Joseph Smith had no witnesses to his claim that he was visited. I countered with the fact that Philip had no independent witnesses to the Acts writers claim that Philip was transported. You jumped into the conversation later.

So, my task is to prove that Philip was transported. Is it your task to prove that Smith was visited, or are you just interested in the comparison?

It was my observation that both religions had their problems with witnesses to certain assumed events. That’s all.

No compulsion - and freedom to discuss and share beliefs.

There are a LOT of exmos who activated that "freedom to discuss and share beliefs" who have been compelled to appear at a "Court of Love".

Additionally, if mormon missionaries were to actually "share" beliefs with Christians, they would be called on the carpet.

You are a breath of fresh air here, but I will continue to rebut all of your posts. ;)

I think I'll call on the Inmans to formally add you to the ThuRsday prayer thread. That's the day we specifically pray for Restornu. We pray for all of the lost every day, but have ThuRsday set aside for a special prayer day.

ThuRsday

It's ThuRsday again on Friday this week, Christians.
