“It’s funny because it IS true that Mormons don’t play that game. We don’t say “You all don’t believe in Christ the way we do so YOU aren’t Christian.”

Um, that’s EXACTLY what the article is saying.....

Um no it’s not. Try again. Read slower perhaps.

For that matter, then why do Mormons come knocking on my door proselytizing me telling me that if I don’t believe THEIR way, I’m not going to heaven?

They say nothing of the sort. Try listening next time.

So you, like many others on this board, neither read nor listen to anything but what they have predetermined as the truth?

You and others, like reaganaut for example could learn a little something by looking up some of these “objections” on the website the article comes from.

Seriously you need to because you are only regurgitating old and tired objections that have been around and well explained for years.

Then WHY do they come knocking on my door to sell Mormonism?

Ping to reaganaut since you’re talking about her.

Please point out these explanations that have been around for years.

I would be interested to see if they are the same as the ones that have been dismissed for years.

It is polite to ping those you mention in your posts. :)

I have looked up the ‘objections’. And you are partially correct the LDS don’t say non-Mormons will not go to ‘heaven’ (since they are pretty much universalists) but the LDS DO teach that non-Mormons will not return to the presence of God the father (Celestial Kingdom) and exaltation without being Mormon.

I have researched more about the LDS (using their own sources) than most LDS I have even known.

And most of the objections to the LDS HAVE been around for years because they have NOT been satisfactorily answered.

One of the most frustrating things when I was LDS was the real lack of coherent responses to objections to LDS history and doctrines. When I spoke to my Bishop about it, I was told not to worry, to ‘put it on a shelf’, lest I ‘think myself out of the LDS church’.

As I said earlier, the LDS church wants to be considered Christian so they are subject to the same scrutiny on history and doctrines as any other group.

They cannot go around calling themselves part of the body of Christ (esp since they believe that they are ‘the only true church on the face of the earth’) and not expect objections.

Ahh, yea they do. Ok, maybe not everyone, just the ones that have come to my door or badgered me while I do yard work.

I always find if fascinating when LDSers say some document, statement or charge was “answered” and as proof that the issue(s) in question was answered successfully point to LDS sources.

How about an acknowledgment from the person making the charge or asking the question.

You can ask me if 2+2=4 and I can say “no, you are wrong, your sources are inaccurate”. You can then press the question and I can say “I answered you already, the debate is closed”.

Of course I would still be wrong, but as far as I was concerned the question was answered and I can tell all those listening I answered you.

I hope your bishop does NOT find out you are calling MORMON wrings vomit!
