That’s child abuse...

To them it is a privileged, a sign they are ‘worthy’ and a way to save others.

THAT is what is child abuse.

I suppose on a warm summer day a bucket of water is just the thing to set you right.

Just maybe....if the water she got doused with was boiling, poisonous, full of raw sewage or contained hungry piranhas...then I might consider the term "persecution" as accurate. But compared to what the Apostles endured...nah ah, sorry, not even close.

Thanks for that posting by the way. How anyone can deny that those people were real believers of what they knew was truth is beyond me. A person may die for a lie, but nobody will die for something they KNOW is a lie.

So very sad that mormons are Christians.

How come some can still smile and chuckle within the cult?
I don't get that.

So very sad that mormons might **think** they are Christians.

They are Smithians, is all.

How come some can still smile and chuckle within the cult? I don't get that.

You’ll not find much thoughtfulness on these threads. What got my attention on another thread about the Bible was a comment by an EO poster to the effect that Protestantism or the Reform movement wasn’t a concern of the Eastern Church. They were Catholic cults and a Catholic problem.

It is a great insight. They simply reject certain Catholic doctrines as non-Biblical, but accept other traditions equally non-Biblical.

Instead of reading the Bible as God’s pure word, it gets polluted by an imputed meaning which then is “discovered” throughout the Bible so as to support a predetermined doctrine. I’ve asked for the best scriptural support for the Trinity and defeated each one over and over again, but to no avail. There isn’t a search for truth going on in the Religion Forum at all.

I agree totally. Just an example or two: Genesis 1:26 And Go said, Let us make man in “Our” image, after our likeness-—and 27: So God Created man in his own image,in the image of God created he him. Male and female created he them.
I cannot tell how many times I have heard, “That doesn’t mean that.” The same wording is found in Gen: 5:1-5 describing Adam’s son Seth.
Heb: 1:2 Tells us God made the “Worlds”. All new bible versions say “World” or “Universe” as if The Universe would have only one world.

Yep. Either the Bible is the Word of God or it isn’t. You don’t fit the Bible to your doctrine. It is the other way around.

I’ve tried to hold normal discussions, but people let their dogma get in the way of the truth of the Bible.

When the Bible doesn’t jive with their trained notions, they turn to outside sources to justify their continued beliefs in non-Biblical doctrines.

The Trinity is my personal favorite. I always ask them to give me their best 3 Trinity proving Bible verses. They either don’t or if they do they simply ignore the devastating proofs contrary to their beliefs.

It is baffling that a conservative site, founded on the search for truth, goes liberal when it comes to religion. There’s way more heat than light on the religion forum.

If you want to believe whatever go ahead, but if you want to discuss it do so like an adult and be ready to follow the truth where it leads. I don’t post much there anymore, although there’s one or two thoughtful FReepers that are worth conversing with.

But, the Anti-Mormon crowd are like talking to a tantrum’d 2 y.o. who’s holding a loaded shotgun - turns out worse than you ever expect.

But his purpose is not to defend...it’s to promote LDS and all it’s teachings on these threads, which he does do. Responding to his posts gives him the stage to do that IMO...and then he’s off and running with it.

eee-yeah.

The Mormons are Anti-Christian.

Otherwise why would there be a need for a restored church and the damnation of all other religions as Apostates and Whores of Babylon?

That is their doctrine and they are out to tell all of Christendom they are in error.

The hilarious part is they spent the last 150 years telling us that and that want nothing to do with Christianity and now all of the sudden they are Christian.

Notice I use the possessive “I am Christian” as they objectify the term, out of context and implicit in their statement is you are not.

No Christian would that phrase but they need to mainstream their religion and doctrine.

Any other Christian would say I am a Christian(part of the larger body of Christ) or We are Christians or even, We are Christians too.

The difference is subtle but it’s there and it makes a huge difference.

I doubt the promotion is doing any good when 80% of the reply posts are by non-mormons...we see new names on the threads frequently agreeing with our stance.

In any case, I believe the more light shown on mormon articles such as this, the better. Christian FReepers reading this may change their minds about the "nicest people in the world" idea.
