Wow lots of Anti-Mormon types on here. Looks like a bunch of copy/pastes from typical, old and tired anti-Mormon propagandist sites.
I dare you to put a little of that effort into finding out the other side of these and other issues from some place other than an anti site or trained parrot.
A couple of good starting places:
www.lds.org
www.fairlds.org
There are many others. Do you have the courage to re-direct some of that effort? You want truth right?

Truth is found only in the Bible...
The cut and pastes of the mormons’ own words are not truth...
Regardless of the website...
much of the cut and paste originates from the mormons’ own sites...
Is it only truth to you if a mormon cuts and pastes the same words and passages from mormon lore that a non-mormon does???
Does the “truth” depend on the messenger or the content ???
Here is a counter question, why did the lds have h.nibly learn Egyptian to translate the FOUND scrolls when by the writings of the lds canon the living prophet can translate any ancient text. It can not be for veracity as nibly was in the pay of the lds so there is no independent research to be had there.
Please also research smith's Egyptian Alphabet and Grammar of 1835 it is abjectly useless for the purposes promoted, i.e. a translation text book.

Alrighty then, fair enough.
Clicked on lds.org, then the "Gospel LIbrary" tab, then selected "LDS gems/inspirational quotes", then the tab for "Joseph Smith"
This is from the very first one:
"In all of recorded religious history there is nothing to compare with it [the First Vision]. The New Testament recounts the baptism of Jesus when the voice of God was heard and the Holy Ghost descended in the form of a dove. At the Mount of Transfiguration, Peter, James, and John saw the Lord transfigured before them. They heard the voice of the Father, but they did not see Him.
"Why did both the Father and the Son come to a boy, a mere lad? For one thing, they came to usher in the greatest gospel dispensation of all time, when all of previous dispensations should be gathered and brought together in one.
Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Marvelous Foundation of Our Faith," Ensign, Nov. 2002, 80
How interesting. I particulary am impressed with the part that states that BOTH the Father and the Son appeared to our young protagonist.
Even h.nibly famous for being able to fine what ever he needed on any given page had to admit of the book of Abraham, being a truthful translation.
“Today nobody claims that Joseph Smith got his information through ordinary scholarly channels. In that case, one wonders how any amount of checking along ordinary scholarly channels is going to get us very far.” (Hugh Nibley, Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Summer 1968, p. 101)
No Mr. nibly “YOU” wonder how to make a clear case that j.smith made it up seem murky.
To the lds conservatives here on freerepubic, I appreciate the support for Conservative and constitutional govt. In these things we are in complete agreement.
Wow, your first post since 2007. Where’ve you been?
for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

I can ask you the same question: You want truth right?
I have read the sites you suggested, several times in fact. I was LDS for several years.
But the truth of it is that NO Egyptologist accepts the Book of Moses. I did believe it to be true at one point and set out to prove it true. I even took Egyptian Hieroglyph classes at UCLA in order to prove the ‘antis’ wrong.
What I discovered is that, no matter how hard you try, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to get the purported text out of those scrolls.
And if you have ever done translation work you know that “translation” always means “translation”.
So if you want the truth, read Larson’s book (linked above), research the ‘antis’ claims, check the Tanners sources, use you mind not just your feelings.
And I guarantee you will come to the same conclusion I did: there is nothing ‘true’ about Mormonism.
Truth alone is found in the Bible.
Feel free to freepmail me with any questions you many have or if you are interested in reliable sources.

"Any criticism that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints does not hold the contemporary Christian view of God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost is not a comment about our commitment to Christ but rather a recognition (accurate, I might add) that our view of the Godhead breaks with post New Testament Christian history and returns to the doctrine taught by Jesus Himself."

I think it is accurate to say we believe They are one in every significant and eternal aspect imaginable except believing Them to be three persons combined in one substance, a Trinitarian notion never set forth in the scriptures because it is not true."

"The strict observance of the law of tithing not only qualifies us to receive the higher, saving ordinances of the temple, it allows us to receive them on behalf of our ancestors. When asked whether members of the Church could be baptized for the dead if they had not paid their tithing, President John Taylor, then of the Quorum of the Twelve, answered: 'A man who has not paid his tithing is unfit to be baptized for his dead. . . . If a man has not faith enough to attend to these little things, he has not faith enough to save himself and his friends' (History of the Church, 7:292-93).

I don't use these sites -- other than very rarely posting an article posted on one of those sites...tho I might recommend them.
Sounds like your generic assumptions are just that. No proof. I won't assume the same thing about you; so I'll instead ask you direct: Is this argument of yours original? (Or did you get it as a paraphrased argument presented by fairlds.org or some other Mormon source?)
you are the 9th poster - not a single cut and paste in sight. Why not step up to the plate and deliver, or stay on the porch
