Doctrine and ritual that one is not proud enough to share even with the very memebers of the faith is not worth knowing...

When I used to be an anti Mormon I used to believe, and repeat, all kinds of goofy lies [SD]

- - - - - -

Well since we don’t lie and we publish their leaders own words, how do we know that SD was REALLY EVER an ‘anti-mormon’??

I doubt she ever was an anti.

AMPU’s post #49 - WHOA, Resty!

This is a PRO-MORMON thread.

Out of great love, we want EVERY MORMON to
have eternal life through Jesus Christ.

We want EVERY MORMON to be set free from a life
of slavery to the BORG and to understand GRACE.

We want EVERY MORMON to come to know the real
God, who is revealed in the BIBLE - and not
the substitute gods that mormonism teaches.

That includes YOU too, Resty!

Best,
ampu

Resty’s post #120 in response to #49 - Not interested in your creepy stuff!

- - - - - - - -
My comments: Resty, how can you say eternal life through Jesus Christ and the love of God is ‘creepy’??

Unless it shows that you don’t really understand the love of God...

But once again the LDS simplify it to make them appear “Christian”.

Those who are baptized enter into a covenant with God to take upon themselves the name of Jesus Christ, keep His commandments, and serve Him to the end (see Mosiah 18:8–10; D&C 20:37). Church members renew this covenant each time they partake of the sacrament (see D&C 20:77, 79).

As I read this I realized how much this is like a fealty oath (oath of allegiance abetween a feudal lord and a vassal) that is dependant upon the ‘works’ of the vassal to keep the lord’s anger or punishment at bay.

Compare this to the Christian view. We come before God, know that our ‘works’ won’t do anything, we are just grateful that Christ paid our debt and serve Him out of love not duty or fear.

I am intrigued that someone would use the phrase Not interested in your creepy stuff! when describing the love of God [svcw]

been there done that....Yuck! [Resty]

Don’t preach to me this forum is for discussion not a “come to ampu momnet!” [Resty]

- - - - - - - -

So, the topic of the love of God makes you go ‘yuck’. And it is not Ampu you need to come to, you need to come to the Jesus of the Bible and put your faith in Him, not in the traditions of man (the LDS church).

“I doubt she ever was an anti.”

Well I was raised in Missouri in the Southern Baptist persuasion. Baptists in rural Missouri are not fond of Mormons generally. After leaving Missouri, I eventually joined the Pentecostal Church of God and remember distinctly the Pastor telling us, from the pulpit, that if Mormons ever darkened the door of our homes, to slam the door in their faces. I remember telling people that Joseph Smith thought he was Jesus. I remember telling people a lot of horrible things about Mormons. I was also a missionary with Youth With a Mission for about five years; served 18 months in Belize (Central America) in the jungle. Mormons are NOT welcome in YWAM.

It wasn’t until I opened my mind, my eyes and my heart that I discovered the truth about the LDS Church. I feel bad for all the horrible things I used to say and believe about Mormons. The same kind of trash I read on these threads.

I am not ashamed to be a Mormon and it actually feels good to know that you guys are offended by my existence. Makes me think of how the Jews are hated and people are offended by their very existence.

Joseph Smith prophesied that his name would be known for good and for evil. I know his name for good; you know his name for evil.

If what I say makes you really mad - and apparently it does as someone accused me of blasphemy (in capital letters followed by three exclamation marks), then I think some of you have real spiritual problems. My faith is my business; it’s a free country; and you have no right getting upset over my personal faith. Why don’t you go after the Catholics for a while and leave us Mormons alone.

Unless one ask in a sincere humble matter the Heavenly Father in the Name of Jesus Chirst they will not know and the world version will always be the knowledge of the Lord is the one they will aquire.

- - - - - - -
Resty, did you ever wonder why the Bible doesn’t ask us to ‘pray’ if things are true?

It doesn’t, instead it tells us to be like the Bereans and research it.

Feelings are subjective, just because you are told a happy feeling comes from God doesn’t mean that it does. The heart is a deceitful thing.

According to LDS theology, Adam and Eve HAD to disobey God (the fall) because it was the only way that they would become mortal (and die) and thus know how to procreate.

They also believe that Satan was telling the truth when he said “You will be gods”.

If you need sources, let me know.

There was an LDS book that came out a few years ago that stated, since Jesus was married and had children, His offspring still were here on earth. All they had to do was to find out how to ‘tap into’ the power.

It also stated that JS was a descendant of Jesus.

You take holy writ out of context, twist and tweek it to fit your pre-conceived agenda. People do that with the Bible all the time. Nothing new under the sun. Meanwhile, our Church is growing and we are experiencing a revival. We are the 4th largest denomination in America.

Look at this way. Do you really think Glenn Beck would be a member of the kind of church you are portraying in your crazy posts? I went to see Beck’s “Christmas Sweater” play at the theater. The book/play is about the Atonement and about how the Atonement can change lives and save lives.

I don’t know why you guys get so offended. Me thinks thou protesteth a little too much.

Religious freedom is one of the gifts of our Founding Fathers. By your constant badgering of Mormons on this site you are making it difficult to believe you believe in freedom of religion. Very difficult.

For the LDS, the atonement only ‘kicks in’ once you have accepted the LDS gospel, been baptized LDS and did “all you can do”. Otherwise it doesn’t count (except for resurrection which is for all mankind and what they equate with ‘salvation by grace’).

“Meanwhile, our Church is growing and we are experiencing a revival.”

Actually, the mormon cult is bleeding converts at an alarming rate.

Whagt happened to be fruitful and MULTIPLE ???

- - - - -
Exactly. That is a flaw in the LDS logic of the fall being necessary for procreation; the command to be fruitful and multiply came BEFORE the fall.

So if Adam and Eve couldn’t multiply before the fall, then why would God command them to do something they couldn’t?

Doesn’t make sense.
