The Scenario:
Ever have one of those days when youre feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, youre feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.
Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see whats happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bobs Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us? (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isnt it sad, my brothers and sisters?
Pastor Bob goes on to say: Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked! But He said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. Youre feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone youve been talking about getting.

Deceiving headline Catholics do not worship the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
Deceiving statement - some Catholics do
Yet, we hear Christ saying earlier,
“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Thus Mary is our mother too.
If you invited a friend to your home for dinner, and this person said, Well, you know, I dont really like your mother. Are you sure you would take this person to your home?
“
I don’t believe the discussion is that people “Don’t like Mary”.
I do believe what you just said was ignorant.
His mother and brothers were interrupting his teaching and so this was His response
Mark 3:31 And his mother and his bretheren came; and standing without, sent unto him, calling him. 32 And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. 33 And answering them, he said: Who is my mother and my brethren? 34 And looking round about on them who sat about him, he saith: Behold my mother and my brethren. 35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
In other words we that come in faith as the Father wills are as dear to Him and as loved by His as His mother and family
This is not declaring her our mother
There is no record of His brother or sister following Him to Calvary. But John was the greatly loved one, a believer..
People’s views on this is how they have personally interpreted
the bible.
You posted three other people’s interpretations of the bible.
Do you believe Luther’s,Calvin’s, and Zwingli’s wrightings are also the Word of God?
That's your own personal interpretation.
Everything about this subject is personal interpretation, because the Bible does not clarify it.
I know how to spell writings, sometimes my fingers do not.
“And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.”
You need to read your own quote. He’s addressing the multitude. He’s not rebuking his mother. This is why he says, whomever follows the word of God, is my brother, and mother and sister.
Do you consider these three to be "Mary worshippers"?
He'd better be her only child, then, not her eldest child, because otherwise he's sinning by excusing another Jew from obedience to Torah. (Well, I suppose all of his alleged younger siblings could be already dead ... but that seems far-fetched.)
Matthew 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
It logically follows that he knew her AFTER.
Incorrect. Scripture makes no mention of the Blessed Virgin Mary having any other children. Scripture does indeed clarify who the biological parents of the "brothers" of Christ are. In addition, Scripture calls Jesus "the" son of Mary never "a" son of Mary and Scripture never calls these "brothers" the sons of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Linguistic literalists need to heed the words of St. Peter:
"As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:16
Good non-answer.If you were inclined, you would go far in leftist politics.
And the text says Firstborn not ONLY.
Good post from you.
‘Dulia’ and ‘hyperdulia’ are the honor and elevated respect and love we pay to Saints and to Mary respectively.
But Latria is for God alone. A good translation for modern ears would be ‘adoration’. This word latria is the root in the term for Mariolatry, which would be literal worship of Mary as if she were God. This would be sinful and heretical.
Those who say that Catholics worship Mary - or who, more bizarrely - claim some form of telepathy about Catholics they have known - had better know the difference.
No, it doesn't. Logic is completely silent on this.
The term 'Firstborn' is wreathed with legal importance in Hebrew culture, especially as regards inheritance. See e.g. Esau and Issac, mess of pottage and so forth. Firstborn doesn't mean 'First of many'.
Poor Pastor Bob has been transformed into a classic strawman; and for all his smugness the author really has to stretch to cover some rather difficult spots; for example, his discussion of Mary's supposed "vow of virginity" strains credulity to the breaking point.
IMO, both sides of the argument (at least as it's presented in the article) are exemplars of pinhead angel-counting -- they've got their man-made doctrines and are willing to stoutly defend them with word studies and logic (so-called); but like the Pharisees before them they both seem to miss the point that doctrine is secondary to Jesus.
So yours is??
