“If, as a tradition suggests, Joseph and Mary had privately committed themselves to remain virgins even in the married state, Mary's question was that of discerning which was God's will: that she remain a virgin and be childless or marry and be a mother.”

Hmmm….there is a quandary presented here that goes against the Catholic teaching that “marriage, not consummated,” is no marriage (an argument for an annulment that marriage had not taken place). So, how does this tradition, if true, follow that Joseph, Mary and Jesus make a “A Model Family”?

And, “remain a virgin and be childless,” versus “marry and be a mother,” is another quandary that has to be faced in the light of Catholic Dogma on the perpetual virginity of Mary. How does a Catholic explain these things?

There are several saints who were married and chose to remain celibate within that union. It did not invalidate their marriage.

The same with Mary and Joseph. Remember that Joseph was the foster-father. The true Father of Jesus Christ, conceived through the Holy Spirit with Mary’s “Yes” is God the Father.

I don’t think you can argue with God on this one. LOL!

**(an argument for an annulment **

You are thinking as man thinks, not as God thinks.

Sorry.
