February 9, 2010 Rowan Williams Issues 'Profound Apology' To Gay Christians

Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent

The Archbishop of Canterbury issued a “profound apology” to the lesbian and gay Christian community today.

In a powerful address to the General Synod, Dr Rowan Williams warned that any schism within the Church would represent a betrayal of God’s mission. But he made clear that he regretted recent rhetoric in which he has sought to mollify the fears of the traditionalist wing of the church.

The Archbishop is from the Church’s liberal wing and a man who once espoused equal rights for gays within the Church. More recently he has adopted a conservative line for the sake of Church unity.

That’s what you get when you make a druid the head of an allegedly Christian ecclesial body.

They ARE God's children too -- just like you and me sinners. The difference is that I don't classify myself according to my sin.

there should also be a line drawn between those with such tendencies and those who act on those tendencies. It's like the tendency to lie or molest. It's a cross for those with tendencies to not act on it.

And those with the tendencies can be and ARE Christian. If they practise this sin, then they must seek forgiveness from God for this and not do it again. Just like the sins you or I commit, we must seek forgiveness and not do it.

But the militant pinkos are asking us to say that this is not a sin, when it is clearly stated in the Bible that it IS.
