Seems like a long diatribe about something so simple as asking Jesus to come into your heart and be your savior. IMHO

As a non-catholic, all three of the responses at once can also be given. Just like we can say we have been redeemed, are being redeemed every day we are still both sinner and saint, in the process of sanctification, and that we will be redeemed (glorification) when we die.

And yet whenever I have asked a Catholic the question “If you died tonight, do you know if you’d go to Heaven?” the answer is always along the lines of “I hope so.” So no matter how you play your word dance, my experience with Catholic is that they don’t have assurance of salvation. My experience is that Catholics are on a “works-based” idea of salvation. Very sad, in my opinion.

If a person knows they are saved, then they know they are saved from the punishment for sin, which is death. The gift of being saved or salvation is eternal life with God (in Heaven).

I am so thankful and comforted in knowing the Catholic Church is indeed led by the Holy Spirit thru imperfect men & the Teaching of Salvation clear & plain for all who open their hearts to His Word. Peace :)

Wait. So you’re saying that “No, but I AM fully invested,” is NOT the correct answer?

I like to respond, “Would you like to buy some Cub Scout popcorn?”

“Why do you ask?” is always a useful response, too ... for just about any question!

In 1 Cor 13, St. Paul says, “Through it you are also being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you...” That’s a big IF and it makes clear that St. Paul felt you could lose your salvation if you did not LIVE the word of God.

My dear friends,

I disagree fully... no offence. I love the apologetic. As a former practicing Catholic I’ll have to take Almighty God’s Word for it instead of man made traditions that contradict to Holy Scriptures. It is all of God none of us. Saving faith will show it’s self in what we say or do (James 2:20). We work out our own salvation because we POSSESS it... not to obtain it. My former Priest (who was the dearest of men) gave me that tract you speak of. I still have it.

The bottom line is that if you or I (a broken egg) think that we can help God out for deliverance we are insane. Jesus Cried it is Finished!

My dear friends let go of you and place your 100% trust in Almighty God for salvation. Place not your trust in the Mass, the eucrest, confessing sins to a man appointed priest, indulgences, good works, sacraments etc... (these are no where found in the New Testament) – (Matt 7:21-23)

No offence to you all … but in sincerity I share this with you.

Romans 5:1, Eph 2:8,9,Acts 16:30,31, Romans 10:2-4
