Madrasa: the hidden and deadly horror of my nation

Madrasa from Arabic genealogy is simply religious school designed to train Muslim chaplains to preach less faithful ones, which ultimately making them lead life of virtue. That is the purpose which was founded not else.

In mid eighties, I used to attend Mal'aamad, sort of primary school usually dealing with basic religious issues, for instance, the methods of prayer, whom to give alms; kindness towards parents, in fact, it was place of contemplation, supplication, and invocation,

In 1991 when Somali government collapsed, Mal'aamad took new name of Madrasa, upgraded, expanded, and spread all over the country like flies with fund of Arabian peninsula , in general, with Saudi fund, in particular. Accommodation was added to its buildings, but the original goal of its foundation was distorted automatically, identifying whether it's Madrasa or military camp was so difficult and continues to be so. Flow of finance to this type of school amid chaos of Somalia is regular, while the mass starvation of my people not only covered by western magazines but televised world-wide, but none of Arab organizations ever contributed anything. As long as the individuals of oil rich countries whose cause became to build Madrasa as panacea to Muslim's economic, social, and political failures; besides, destabilization, and fueling " leaderless" Jihad", as Marc Sageman titled in his publication, who are appear to target Balkans, Indian subcontinent, and of course failed nations like my country, Somalia, while they enjoying life to fullest back in their home countries, the crisis will go on. I am sure there would no magic bullet for the Madrasa at the moment because of its religious sensitivity.

Later years, Madrasa is spontaneously involved into multi-purpose hideout, either it can be conference lobby of holding clandestine meeting by Sheikhs of aged between 18 to 70 years during the night , or recruitment centre for youth, and then dispatched to Ogaden region of Ethiopia to carry out terror activity . All these were happening of full view of the so called Somali statesmen and intellectuals as well as international organization operating in the area. Over two decades there was ongoing massacre of innocent people as result of total collapse of Somali elite community, lack of cultural values, and critical deficit of Islamic principles,

Nowadays, the radicalization process of the Madrasa surroundings was forcibly conducted by the hard-line teachers who are mainly trained in Arab country. anti-western sentiments are part and parcel of the subjects taught at the school or Madrasa, furthermore, both its poetry and the songs urging the liberation of x country and tidings of anti-Israel had been including as part of the subjects too, before the kids go to Madrasa they have to sing together anthem calling for the death of Uncle Sam, something quite irrelevant to what is suppose to teach in schools,

I grown up to hear sweet words like Sheikhs are heirs of the prophets which was clear message to youth to accept whatever these lunatics have to say or utter, in other words, to blindly follow them in every direction they go without raising any question!.That was annoying and unacceptable to me; however, their detrimental ideology was not reflecting the ideals of Islam as well as the wishes of the vast majority of Muslims across the world. I was affiliated with educated class, and after all, I realized that Madrasa became infrastructure of terrorism and hatred, despite the apparent sprawling of Madrasa in every tiny village in my country, the world had done little to stop it, especially the USA abandoned us leaving terrorism in charge of Somalia.

Because my country's airspace, land, and ocean was terrorized severely, we consequently had very much to worry about. The fact that Saudi funded-organization built Madrasas not hospitals, islamization centre not maternities made us extremely suspicious. As Somalis were dying out of hunger, Saudi sent in early nineties Madras textbooks full of hatemongering; songs (anaashid), maybe to strengthen our faith! How ludicrous, all were occurring when Somalis dying out of water-born diseases for instance, epidemic cholera, dysentery, and etc. we as Somalis need essential drugs or doctors to treat the sick ones, Arab countries used to send high level clerics to train more Sheikhs not midwives to keep faithful as they assert but in fact to keep people starved. When our women were giving birth under tree or the open air just like animals our brothers in Middleast sent more Wahabi textbooks and train our youngsters as mullahs not as nurses, good example is Dr Omer, ringleader of Hisbul Islam, terror organization operating in Somalia was educated in Saudi Kingdom , in contrast, the western organization such as Medicine Sans Frontier, Care international, Oxform UK, and of course, Joint Voluntary Organization were fighting to alleviate the plight of millions of Somali trapped in Somalia, excellent of evidence of that is the resettlement programme in which thousands of Somalis are taken to the west to live permanently ,in addition, the feeding centers which keep many Somalis alive are usually run by the western organizations or Christian organization as the terrorist usually like to call it, its clear to me to probably to any body else that Somalis need urgent salvation not emotional words "one good turn deserve another" this old say is very much applies here. Now those escaped the living hell began to send money back home, after through investigation some of the money senders were discovered that they were channeling funds to illegal organization, these groups are the ones, who are graduated Madarasa before they reached Meditarean sea, consequently, restriction was imposed upon the money transfer firms, in return, this negatively affected the unfortunate folks stranded in one of the worst failed nations the world had seen.

I was invited to Madrasa to watch video clip recorded in Afghanistan or similar place; inside the tape a recorded man with red goatee beard threw something at the moving tank, and then the tank blew up. I saw the footage, although I had not recognized what he did , but a narrator, who was standing at speaker's platform commenting about the tape; said the man in the movie stoned the tank while saying Allah Akbar(Lord is the greatest),after that the tank destroyed. I have to keep respectful silence while he inducing his subjects, otherwise I would be beheaded. Certainly I do not buy his gibberish. After that painful experience, I never trusted them. This was the most unforgettable fairytale which still haunts in mind, anyway, the spectators applauded for enthusiasm; furthermore, he told them if they genuinely seeking to go to heaven, Afghanistan is the ideal station, the hostages seem to be simply consumers and narcissists only

Since the cleric realized that his hostages were parroting whatsoever he was saying, he mentioned that Huuris (booties of natural beauty) waiting them in heaven; the only way to attain that noble goal is to put Jihad on anyone be noncombatants as well as combatants! , As this point the lives of induced ones are possessed like the chattel and goods, in spite of the fact that such cheap stories can not be sold in the medieval ages, let alone the twenty first century, they bought it easily, they no longer feel sense of moral thinking, Shiekh Aways, the spiritual father of Islamist groups once said "the shelling of Bakara Market is ok as long as the Amison(African peacemaking mission in Somalia) is there",. Mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers of the militants are the daily casualties in their gun-firing, but they can not dare to ask logical question such as this. Why are we massacring our flesh and blood? I am terrible sorry to say that, nevertheless, their conscience is dead. Now they practicing devil's precepts, of course they can be matricidal.

Of manipulating one's mind and programming dickheads was what that guy was so good at, he overemphasized that Jihad was the only way out, its easy that Somali suffering, destitute, and misled people would assume. His techniques of indoctrination were working out; if you look into the maniacal behavior of some of his slaves you would not believe it, for example. High School between Berbera and Buroa where the two British nationals were murdered in cold-bloodily, the perpetrators were apprehended and brought to the court in Hargeisa, Somaliland; they adamantly insisted that the murder were of their own calculation!, how can you can admit the killing of innocent people!,

Who are actually behind the Madrasa from Pakistan to Somalia in terms of finance and logistics? , the answer is may not so difficult unless you are ignoring the facts on the ground of vast area of territories, the gulf states are the master-minded, if I am wrong, I can be, you can correct me right away, Sheikhs alone can not be blamed,

My country has many neighbors, but most of them are harmful even terror exporter, except Ethiopia. Saudi immigration accepts Somali-passport holders to come to its soil for one but one purpose: the pilgrimage, but not for medical treatment! Which one is essential for human needs? Or Somalis are required to perform Hajj (pilgrimage) because Saudi religious authority obliged them to do so! I am somewhat confused. I suppose to laugh then to cry.

To sum up, the normalization and rehabilitation of these misguided mobs is necessary; furthermore, the world has moral obligation to help them; I suggest the construction of further Madrasa should be halted; health centre must be built if one wants genuinely an alms, instead of demonized institution, above all. Arab funds must be regulated to avoid further loss of human life; otherwise, the entire Somalia will be sunk beneath the ocean of the terror cult, including Somaliland, the lively part of Somalia as New York Times describes it an earlier edition.
