Islamic Relief USA officials announced Wednesday they were flying $1 million of aid to Haiti in cooperation with the LDS Church.

Such Friends!....
And though the church (LDS) continues to aid non-Muslim causes, only two of the six major disaster assistance efforts listed on its website since 2004 — Hurricane Katrina and Africa measles vaccination campaigns — did not primarily affect Islamic nations.
Locally, LDS helped the Islamic Society of Orange County’s Al-Rahman Mosque in Garden Grove develop its library with a $15,000 donation. “Their beliefs are similar to ours,” Robert Bremmer, a Mormon bishop, said at that facility’s open-mosque day in 2005. “They have modest dress, and so do we. They believe in all the [Old Testament] prophets, as do we.”
Whatever, I wouldn’t partner with a God-hater. I don’t get what that has to do with the good Samaritan.
Exactly, that's my question too.
Larry, as far as I am concerned I welcome this article posted in the “news forum”. I think everyone should see.
So Religion Moderator, please change it over to “news”.
Thanks.
This thread has ventured too far into a religious debate to be welcomed by the News/Activism posters.
Gee, article written in April of 2008 boasting of the ties between the mormons and muslims....read the part where the mormon church donated to the library of the Islamic Society of Orange County’s Al-Rahman Mosque in Garden Grove....and spending time with mormons helped a muslim quite drinking coffee!!
Screen shot time!
I’ve read up to #40-something on the replies, and that was enough. This has to be one of the more tasteless, disgusting displays of pettiness and arrogance that I’ve had the displeasure of coming across on this website.
For crying out loud, we’re talking about a relief effort. If there’s diversion of funds to Islamic terrorist groups with Mormon blessings and cooperation, let’s see some proof, and then that’s a story. But the guilt-by-association crap and sly innuendo belongs in a sleazy gossip column somewhere.
Got it. Thanks anyway.
Got it. Thanks anyway.
Wow, Here’s another interesting article.
Why Are Mormons (& John Conyers) Funding Islamic Terrorism?
by Debbie Schlussel
http://www.debbieschlussel.com/2343/why-are-mormons-john-conyers-funding-islamic-terrorism/
Mormons are among the most patriotic Americans.
So, why are they the new financiers of Islamic terrorism and instruction for young children in beheadings?
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Mormon Church, is the single largest donor to the U.S. branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), also known as Islamic Relief. In the past year, it donated $1.6 million to the charity.
But Islamic Relief is not just any charity. The Israeli government says it is a HAMAS front group. It is also under investigation by the American government.
IRW was founded in 1984 by Dr. Hany El Banna. He is a relative of Hassan El Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist groupfrom which HAMAS, Yasser Arafat, and Al-Qaedas second-in-command Ayman Al-Zawahiri emanated.
I am very tempted to post this article on the news activism forum with a link to today’s boasting by the Mormons (in order to make it relative). Wouldn’t that be interesting?
Perhaps this thread would better suit you.
Salvation Army Mobilizing Personnel, Resources to Aid with Haiti Relief
Ok. But I’ll ask you the question: why not already establish groups that have been in Haiti for decades? Why partner with islamic fascist? The partnering the ldsers have done with islamic fascist has gone on for years. Another question, why?
What if thousands of people decided to fast 1 to 3 meals and then donated $5, $10, or $15 to relief efforts to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti? We could literally send thousands of dollars in aid to help those in need and we could do it in the matter of a few days. Join the effort and spread the word, get your entire youth group, your church choir, your parish, your co-workers, your young adult group, your campus ministry group, whoever you can to join this effort. Pick one day in the next week and fast for 1 to 3 meals that day.
Then donate $5 per meal you fast to Catholic Relief Services. You can donate
Tell you what, Teppe. I'll address this question of yours if you can first answer a very simple mathematical question tying into your tagline. Your tagline starts off, "for my god..."
Now, pray tell, which Mormon god are we talking about?
The ex-man Mormon father-god?
His dad-god?
His grand-god?
The Mormon jesus?
The Mormon 'ghost?
Some ultimate Mormon god who heads up the 'council of gods' that Joseph Smith talked about?
Which one?
And if even the three main Mormon gods -- are separate beings/separate entities -- assuming you're referencing one of those three -- which one does your tagline reference?
(If you take a while to respond; or if we hear crickets over this difficult Mormon mathematical quandary, that's OK. We understand. Even the "best" theological minds within Mormonism, like the only Lds apostle I know who'd actually have the theological gall to write a comprehensive sounding book, Mormon Doctrine, had trouble as well with Mormon theological math.)
The very difficult "tough" question apostle Bruce R. McConkie had to face was this "mind-bender": How many gods are LDS to worship?
(Maybe you could let McConkie know on the other side of the veil if you've puzzled this one out).
You see, we know how many (true) gods are worshiped in the Bible? (One according to Jews & Christians)
How many gods are worshiped in the Book of Mormon? (Two according to the Mormon definition of Heavenly Father and Jesus being two separate gods). Jesus is DIRECTLY worshiped in the Book of Mormon: Mormon 7:7; 2 Nephi 25:29; 4 Nephi 4:37; 3 Nephi 11:17; 3 Nephi 17:10.
How many gods are worshiped according to their LDS apostle's "Mormon Doctrine" 1966 book? (Three according to the Mormon definition of Heavenly Father and Jesus and the Holy Ghost being three separate gods): "Three separate personages--the Father, Son and Holy Ghost--comprise the Godhead...To us, speaking in the proper finite sense, these three are the only gods we worship." (Mormon Doctrine, pp. 567-577, 1966 edition)
Oh, wait a minute. (I should have kept reading). McConkie, on p. 848, only emphasizes worshiping two gods: "The Father and the Son are the objects of all true worship....No one can worship the Father without also worshiping the Son....It is proper to worship the Father, in the name of the Son, and also to worship the Son" (McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 848).
Oh, wait. McConkie changes his mind by 1982, when he gave that special devo @ BYU almost 28 years ago (March 2, 1982, "Our Relationship with the Lord.") Essentially, McConkie wasn't happy with either his "3" god or "2" god worship. So he came up with a kind of 1 1/2-god worship to present to BYU students:
We do not worship the Son, and we do not worship the Holy Ghost. I know perfectly well what the scriptures say about worshipping Christ and Jehovah, but they are speaking in an entirely different sense--the sense of standing in awe and being reverentially grateful to him who has redeemed us. Worship in the true and saving sense is reserved for God the first, the Creator.
So, Teppe, we know this is a tough test. At least, with Brother McConkie's help, we've narrowed this down to a multiple choice test:
1?
2?
3?
1.5?
Will you pass it?
Will you actually "earn the right," so to speak to ask even tougher questions like the one you've posed?
(Good Luck. And may the Mormon force be with you. Or not)
The Islamic Relief USA organization has only existed for 17 years, which itself would be stretch to say “decades”.
And so far as I can tell from research, the LDS church’s first work with the IR-USA group was in 2004.
And the answer to your question appears to be that both organizations exist to aid people in crisis situations, and find it easier to help when they work together.
If I were an LDS member, I might have questions about my church associating with IR-USA. As an outside observer, I can’t see why people are upset that two organizations they are not involved with, and apparently would not ever BE involved with, are together providing aid and assistance to people in crisis in Haiti.
OF course I would, but that’s because it would be my tax dollars.
is the LDS part of the government, funded by my tax dollars? No, so why should I be upset with how they decide best to help Haiti using the money of their own membership?
If I were LDS, I might have an issue with this, but from outside it’s two organizations I’m not a part of working together to help people. It seems bitter and pointless to be upset with them.
Of course, most of the anti-Mormon stuff around here seems bitter and pointless, unless the point is to drive off the most conservative religious group from the ranks of the conservative movement. Because we certainly don’t need a few million active members of the conservative community.
I mean, it’s not like they’ve done anything good like repeal same-sex marriage in California or anything — oh wait, they did EXACTLY that.
So, maybe you should be outraged that many of our Christian churches teamed up with the LDS church to defeat gay marriage.
SO far as I can tell from my very brief research (who would have thought I’d have to research this crap), IR-USA is mostly a fundraising organization, and does not have a large volunteer staff to actually DO things.
I’m not the one criticizing how others serve, you all are.
Agreed.
