This is the audio clip of Dallin H. Oaks, current Mormon Apostle leader, from the PBS documentary, "The Mormons", declaring unequivocally:
"IT'S WRONG TO CRITICIZE LEADERS OF THE (MORMON) CHURCH, EVEN IF THE CRITICISM IS TRUE."Don't criticize?

I started a thread about the late Oral Roberts. I started it, I believe, for the same reason you start most of your “look at how vile them Mormons are” threads. I just wanted to point out that there is corruption enough in the Evangelical branch of “true” Christianity, but I was roundly condemned by some EV for doing so. I was even accused of trying to distract from the problems of the Mormon Church.
This is what I have trying to talk about around here. Group A does X against Group B and Group A says that it’s done because of the love and concern they have for Group B. Group B does something very similar to Group A and Group A roundly condemns Group B for being hatemongers and lowlife pondscum do something like X.
I have been told by many EVs that God hates Mormons like He hated Esau, that if God loved us, He would save us just like He has saved those EV who told me this.
Using “inflammatory” language occasionally has its purpose, as a father, I will not deny that, but as a father, if I used it all the time, I would be a total failure.
I come of this site and that is all I see from those who oppose the Mormon Church, a constant flow of extremely negative, highly inflammatory language.
And when I critique an EV’s interpretation of the Bible, I am not attacking the Bible. How can I attack the Bible? I find that this type of argument typically comes from those who aren’t equipped to deal with critiques, so as a last resort, they deflect the argument into a different area. It’s like libs playing the racist card when they say that all those who disagree with PBO are racists.
What do you mean by “When are Mormons going to take responsibility for what their $ has published worldwide — by priting [sic] press, by Web site, by missionary vocal chord?”
I just find it interesting that you ask for specifics on a lot of things, but you ask me a whole lot of questions. I can’t get specific on all of them and still have a life.
For example, some poster keeps throwing up the question of the BofM being the “fullness of the gospel” and how can it be that when there is not a lot of doctrine in it. I responded in some detail of how it is the fullness of the gospel and she rejected it out of hand. I tire of answering questions and then finding those same zombie questions arising not only in thread not too long after the response, but sometimes even within the same thread.
I opened a thread, stating up front that I am Mormon so not to try to deceive anybody, stating that if I were an agnostic, how would somebody in the mainstream Christianity go about trying to bring that person to Christ. I also said that as this agnostic, that I was going to ask lots of questions and challenge the responses.
Many of the responses were about how deceptive I was being since I was a Mormon and that I had an agenda. I made this thread at the behest of an agnostic friend and he was telling me often how to respond.
There were some who honestly made some good suggestions, but then there were those who just threw a bunch of verses up on the screen and said, “Here, read this.” Okay, as an agnostic, almost of the time, just reading a bunch of verses doesn’t do very much. My agnostic friend has read the Bible several times. I would then as these people what these scriptures meant and challenge them on their interpretation of them and many of these people become angry with me because I was just playing a game. No, I was acting just like an agnostic would and I did it with help from a real agnostic.
You want me to get specific with my beliefs, yet I find very few here getting specific with their own beliefs, other than the Mormon Church is evil.
And when it comes to motivation, maybe I can’t see in their hearts why people really do things they do, but I can often get a good guess after some time, especially when I have been told why they are doing it from their own lips.
All I have seen from many people on these threads are “I hate the Mormon Church” over and over again. These same people claim they love the Mormons, but hate the Mormon Church, but when was the last time most of them said anything positive about a Mormon person that they claim to love. No, I can’t judge a person’s heart, but I sure can judge their actions just like these people have judged the Mormon Church and many of its members.
BTW, I’ll say “hi” to Sevenbak the next time I see him online. I haven’t seen him for a while.
Mormon logic escapes me. If God required perfection of His work, He would have made it perfect to begin with and not set out "busy work" for mortals to perform in order to gain His approval.
Why would He have sent His Son to take on our sins when He could have just trumped up some additional "busy work" for those elite mortals who purport to have an exclusive ticket to perform secret rituals claiming to be done in His name?
You trouble maker you...
:)
Oh, really. This statement is really stretching bounds of truthfulness.
.....but hate the Mormon Church, but when was the last time most of them said anything positive about a Mormon person....
Happens quite frequently.
What a fine insult you tossed into the ring while asserting your holier than thou status! And the religion mod has just let it pass for you. I have yet to read where Colofornian has claimed Mormons (that’s the people, not the ism, for your definition clarity mind) are vile people, mormonism is vile, but the people are not vile for being duped. That LDS moldy chip on the shoulder must get heavy at times.
Hall of Infamy LDS caller LOL.
And this surprises you, why?
The weather ???

I say:
It’s not stretching the bounds of truthfulness. I have been told that, not very often, but several times.
There were a couple of missionaries in our area, a couple of years ago, who just happened to be passing in front of an EV church after the church had just presented an anti-Mormon program. The elders were surprised when people starting yelling obscenities and throwing things at them.
We had a major preacher in our area who told his congregation that we were evil, that God didn’t love us, and that nobody in his congregation was suppose to associate with us. I had a couple of friends who left his congregation right after that.
As far as hearing positive things about the Mormon Church around here, I haven’t seen anything yet. All I have so far from those who like to bash the Church is usually fairly negative things. Of course, it a good chance that I have just missed them.
Whether it’s weather or not, I’m at a loss over the less ... I think I need a pot of coffee.
A good hot cuppa coffee hits the spot on these cold days
(12 degrees)
Also jump charges the frozen brain cells...
Careful when you go around calling people “holier than thou”, you might have to look in the mirror one of these days.
I love it when people go around claiming that Mormons are duped. Where is the evidence of that? I could make the very same claim about “true” Christians.
And I don’t have any moldy chip on my shoulder that’s getting heavy because it fell off a long time ago when I had to start ducking all those heavy baseball bats “true” Christians are swinging at me, trying to take my head off.
Have you ever doing the same thing with the non-logicalness of the Trinity of mainstream Christianity?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Jesus said, Whom do men say that I am?
And his disciples answered and said, Some say you are John the Baptist returned from the dead; others say Elias, or other of the old prophets.
And Jesus answered and said, But whom do you say that I am?
Peter answered and said, “Thou art the Logos, existing in the Father as His rationality and then, by an act of His will, being generated, in consideration of the various functions by which God is related to his creation, but only on the fact that Scripture speaks of a Father, and a Son, and a Holy Spirit, each member of the Trinity being coequal with every other member, and each acting inseparably with and interpenetrating every other member, with only an economic subordination within God, but causing no division which would make the substance no longer simple.”
And Jesus answering, said, “What?”
You poor thing ...
Not one of the main parties to these threads have ever called any posting mormons "vile". Maybe joe smith, but you would be hard pressed to find anyone "hating" any of the mormon posters.
"All I have seen from many people on these threads are I hate the Mormon Church over and over again."
Wrong. You may be confusing the exposure of the lds doctrine as hate, but I have not seen any of the inmans post anything remotely approaching "hate".
As a matter of disclosure, I am an apostate. I speak from my experiences and from what I learned whilst an active member. I have cred. I can talk about it all I want and the many who claim I "hate" are just too thin skinned and immature to realize the true nature of my feelings towards the lds church. Not its members.
I was baptized, ordained an elder, sealed to my wife in a temple and was well on my to godhood when I was ordained to the melchizedek priesthood. I then realized how arrogant I was becoming.
That I could become a god? That I was being promised many of the same prizes muslims are promised. An eternal harem of pregnant "wives" to populate my own planet. But most of all, I couldn't find any information on ordinances, endowments, etc. in any of the lds "scriptures". Where was all this stuff coming from, if not from "restored" principles and scripture?
I slowly started backing out of this nonsense so as to not hurt my wife. We're now starting conversations revolving around the "truthfulness" of mormon doctrine. Right now we're discussing whether or not mormons are Christian. She's extremely defensive about this and doesn't really have a clue as to how much the lds have really corrupted God's word.
To take dissension, argumentative comments, and opposing viewpoints and twist them into "hate" shows how dependent and how emotionally invested mormons are in their religion. The mere fact that you aren't allowed to question your prophets should be proof enough that there is something drastically wrong with the "leadership" in SLC.
