I’ve know people who’ve had life-threatening diseases that were prayed over and made amazing recoveries that left the Doctors scratching their heads in bewilderment.

On the other hand, I’ve also seen many people prayed over that have made no recovery at all and died anyway.

Some prayers simply go unanswered. I just don’t know why.

I believe that God can and does answer prayer miraculously (though not in the "Benny Hinn" sense). A lot of the reason why prayer is NOT answered has to do with the fact that the one(s) praying are not, themselves, right with God (Ps. 66:18). That's not the only reason, I'm sure, but that right there is a biblical answer to why so many prayers go unanswered. In other cases, especially when people are praying for "things" and treating God like a cosmic candy machine, it has to do with the fact that prayers that are selfish will not be answered (James 4:3). And always, there is the fact that many times, what we're praying for, while perhaps not in and of itself bad or selfish, is simply not within the will of God for us (I John 5:14).

There are many stipulations about prayer that the Bible sets that many preachers seem to ignore today. Prayer is not just a matter of "If *I* want it bad enough, God has to give it to me." As Americans, we don't like to hear that, since we're so used to getting what we want, when we want it. Nevertheless, it is the truth.
